thankyou...

My point was, we now have a sponsor that's giving us a bit of cash... and people are moaning that we're being unethical and the like.

Get a life.

Fantastic retort.

Could have probably done with a few more "chill out"s and "OMG!"s  for dramatic effect though.

surely you mean "chill out's" ? if you want to be pendantic about it?

Wow, i never really believed it until now... A lot of Villa fans are arbitrary, capricious, changeable, cheating, coquettish, double-crossing, faithless, fitful, flighty, frivolous, inconstant, irresolute, lubricious, mercurial, mutable, quicksilver, sneaking, temperamental, ticklish, two-timing, unfaithful, unpredictable idiots.

We've had that bunch of arse levelled at us so much now that it must be true.

Consistently f1ckle?

A rare achievement, that.

No, because "chill out" is the quote and it doesn't belong to anyone, therefore doesn't need the apostrophe.

yeah well dave... thankfully i'm in a world where i can voice an opinion, which doesn't necessarily have to stick to your rules.

sorry, but sometimes some comments i read are just embarrassing.

People 'moaned' that 32Red was unethical. One of the great things about Villa these days is that we do the right thing, so it's only proper that the nature of our sponsors should be debated

Well done on introducing the f word to the debate in yet another 'our supprters are terrible' whinge.

You expressing your opinon is fine, but anyone else expressing their opinion is moaning, and embarassing. Got you.

Excellent, finally we’ve shrugged off helping kids and gone for a sponsor which everyone can care about. Forex trading really warms my heart.

What?? Give the announcement another read through mate

Is booze banned now? Now Liverpool have finished with Carlsberg I can't think of any big club with a booze sponsor.

And we've not been blessed with sexy sponsors down the years, it must be said. Yoghurts, photocopiers and hospices! And now a Cypriot pension fund.

It's time to reclaim the spirit of Davenports. What about getting Viz to knock up a claret and blue version of their 'Booze 'n' Fags' t-shirt and try to sell it as a generic endorsement to every death and misery merchant in the commercial world.

Has no-one explored the opportunities for sponsorship from porn websites?

Or look at sponsoring Villa Park as the 'Razzle-Rena' ?

Quite right, Dave. And if the "chill out's" were meant  to be plural there is no apostrophe either - the phrase would read "chill outs". The plural of apple is apples, not apple's. Unless you're a grocer, of course.

The Acorns deal was a wonderful gesture by the club, and it also garnered a fair amount of publicity. Once we switch to revenue generating shirt sponsors the club simply have to negotiate the most lucrative deal available (within reason, of course - I wouldn't expect us to accept £50m from the Taliban or Rohypnol, though help from the Taliban would be pretty nifty at the Sty. There were at least a couple of home games last season where I would willingly have self administered Rohypnol too).

On a non-financial level I would love a big name in the public eye, as I think that would generate association with the club in a non-footballing context, which can only help our own profile in a wider arena.

Oh for the halcyon days of Barratt Homes sponsorship....

it is worth nothing that FXPro are not a massive company, not even when compared to previous sponsors. They're a four year old Cypriot registered company.

Interesting choice of sponsors.  As you say, not a massive company but a growing one.  A financial services company which is in Randy's field of expertise.  I wonder if he is taking a gamble on this company being the next big thing, let's hope so.

With all companies these days, FxPro say the right things about corporate social responsibility so the Acorns connection fits well with them.

It sounds ambiguous enough to work for me.

"FXPro? Who's that, the firm behind the special effects for Dr Who?" (in fairness, that would probably be FX Semi-Pro).

From a purely aesthetics point of view, FXPro in white on a claret background should look OK too.

No problem with the deal as far as I'm concerned. They're paying the rate we requested, name sounds OK and as far as I'm aware they aren't linked to any child labour rackets in S.E Asia.

Im sure Randy knows more about this company then any of us, and wouldnt have just gone with any company if it wasnt ethical.
They sponsor Virgin Racing, soas a layman, id say they are a company who are looking to get bigger.
If they are prepared to pay whatever valuation that Randy put on the sponsorship deal, and they are happy to work with Acorns, then thats the important thing.
