One of the ugliest Game 7's ever. I don't think either one of them should have been allowed to win. They should give the championship to Memphis...

And so it is

LeBron's joining Dwayne Wade (who re-signed with the Heat) and Chris Bosh (who's joining from Toronto).

The Heat are now clear favorites in the NBA Eastern Division. However, the team will have to work hard to obtain a decent supporting cast within the salary cap.

US TV today has been "all LeBron, all of the time". ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN News are all covering the story at the moment.

There's been video of LeBron jerseys being burned in Cleveland.

LeBron asked for an got a one how show on ESPN to announce his decision. It seems a very cold way to tell the Cavaliers fans that he's leaving Cleveland.

LeBron is now right up there with Art Modell as the most hated figure in Cleveland

From the Cavs website

Quote
Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER 'KING' WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Dan Gilbert

Majority Owner

Cleveland Cavaliers

Was just about to say have you seen Dan Gilbert's rant! - I'll be honest; I think on paper Heat should walk the East and to be honest win the whole thing but things aren't won on paper. My outside bet for next year is the Oklahoma Thunder. Kevin Duarant and the young lads down there with a bit of luck will do well.

I see that the Celtics have signed J - O'Neil; which will somehow cover Perkins for the start until he's back in Jan but also provide KG with a bit of support and rest when needed.

I wouldn't bet on the Heat until they have more than 4 guys under contract. Even the great teams need more than 3 great players and Lebron has said that himself. They will definitely be fun to watch this year though! Miami will be the center of the basketball universe.

Can I request that the name "Lebron" gets the same filter treatment that Steve Hodge gets?

He crapped on Cleveland fans in about the worst way imaginable.  Eveyrone here thought Barry was a traitor, but at least he was nice enough to not string everyone along for 2 months and make a national, hour-long TV show to stiff his old home-town fans.

But Lebron took a lot less money than he could of else were including Cleveland he moved for basketball reasons which I kind of respect he wants/NEEDS to win a Championship and Miami to be honest with Bosh and D-Wade was his best option.
