I loved Tommy when he was here, but that could be more an indictment of how we were back then rather than him being anything special.
Haven't seen much of him since he left, but unless he has improved dramatically in that time, I don't think he's be anything more more than a squad player at VP now and would like to think we have moved beyond signing that type of player now.

He's no Zidane, but I always thought his distribution was tidy and his overall game decent enough.
Yes he probably did have a tendency to fade in matches. Like most youngsters, in fact.
But I'd say he must have improved that side of his game if he was made captain of his club side and featured regularly for his national side during the time he was away.
There is also the small matter of him actually still following the Villa and coming over to watch us during his free time. Think of some of the tosspots- even the home based ones- who couldn't wait to up sticks and move and never looked back once they were out of the door.

I didn't know that. Nice one.

Decent signing for West Ham.
I always thought he was decent. This.

Seen him at the WHam (funnily enough) home match last season.
He was also interviewed soon after MON took over and said he was delighted with the appointment and still watches as many games as he can in Germany.
This was when he was visiting Brum soon after the WC in 2006 IIRC.

Was directly in line with his last minute belter at the Reebok, stunning goal that still brings a smile
