Went to Maine Road with our kid to see their last-minute Cup semi-final defeat to Fulham. The blokes from his work had a mini-bus but, typically, couldn't fill it without asking Villa fans to help them out.I've had more fun, but not much.

Much to much shame, the first match I ever went to was at St Andrews. I still don't know why but then again I was only 8 at the time. Maybe my old man got some tickets free or something. We lived in Bordesley Green East so it was only down the road. An FA Cup game. Tottenham. 0-0. Even though it was in 1967 I remember it being boring, clear as anything. I've just looked it up on t'internet and found the Blues lost the replay 6-0 at White Hart Lane. Wish we'd gone to that one instead.Never been back unless the Villa were playing, and I don't plan to change that trend.PS I see that Geoff Vowden and Trevor Hockey both scored for the Blues in their FA Cup run, so I was at least watching future Villa men. That gets me off the hook a bit.
For a short period, in 68/9 I used to go down the Villa and SH alternate weeks. They had some really good attacking players in those days -Pickering, Greenhoff, Summerill and Vincent.I recall a game against Huddersfield where Geoff Vowden came on as a half-time sub and scored a hat-trick!These Villa boys, eh?
