Their notoriously ‘vociferous’ support.

I went to Dachau, just outside of Munich, a couple of days before the Netherlands V. CCCP Euro Final game 25.6 88. Marco van Bastens' volley.

There was no noise, not even some birdsong. Dachau was silent apart from wailing visitors, me included.

30 years later i still struggle to deal with that day.

Frightening, I thought I was watching the Buenos Aires Superclásico!

Same at Belsen. The complete and total silence of that place will live with me forever.

I also went there and I did hear birds singing by the forest and thought, can you imagine being in this camp of murder and hearing birds, free on the other side of the fence.
I also can not believe the town has not changed its name.
would you want to live at that address ?

Around 15 years ago I remember going to the commonwealth war cemetery at Kanchanabari in Thailand, and was very impressed at the condition of the grounds the locals kept it in, but also somewhat bemused by the amount of coaches with Japanese tourists who would jump off, race round taking pictures of each other next to graves and then jump back on their coach.

That Mayor bloke who’s sometimes itk over there is predicting a storm brewing.  They’re in meltdown over what it could be.
