Happy (Proper) Opening Day

Games live on BT Sport from around 5pm today

I won't be able to watch much today because I'm in Bristol tonight to get my ears melted by the mighty 'Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs'

The Red Sox have made a terrible start to the season. In fact it's the worst that a defending champion has started a season in 20 years (and that was the gutted Marlins team).

The answer is, of course, a mid-season signing of Tyrone Mings

The Cubs aren't doing much better, still a long way to go.

Although the Sox and Cubs are bad as teams, Chris Davis of the Orioles has been historically bad as an everyday player

0-49 to start the season

0-54.

His $161m contract is looking as bad as ours to Micah.

3H and 4RBI against the Sox ends his streak and takes his batting average to the giddy eights of .071

The ticket prices for the London game and ridiculous... It would be almost as cheap to fly to New York to watch a game.

Vlad Jr to make his MLB debut on Friday

One of the most exciting hitters to debut for a while

Significant improvement by the Red Sox over the past couple of weeks.

Still in third place in the AL East but now three games over .500, with a positive run differential.

Good grief. I know American sports are expensive especially for the big names, Yankees, Sox, Knicks, Lakers but 320 for an adult ticket for 29June in London is taking the piss.

Yep, MLB appear to have taken the approach that because they knew the games would sell out, they'd charge high prices and put money in their own pockets rather than the touts.

320 was the lowest ticket price I was offered via Ticketmaster's initial pre-sale. I held off and got tickets for under half that price direct from the Stadium.
