Has anyone here ever been to Hoofddorp ?

No but I wish I had, and I love dutch girls they are very liberal thinkers!

I'll keep an eye on how the plans progress, with the aim of having a "H&V Hardball and Hookers Tour" in 2014

Another losing season for the Pirates, that makes it 19 and an MLB record.

The Sox are going to blow this.

After their poor performance against the Rays, they're now losing to the awful O's.

In better news, I've somehow managed to make the final in my Fantasy Baseball League.

Good response from the Sox in game two last night and well done to Mo Rivera last night for the record setting save, he has only blown something like 73 saves in over 700 attempts, not bad but just as shame he plays for that lot!

This is shaping up to be the biggest regular season collapse of all time

However, even though they lost again yesterday, thanks to the Rays losing a double-header to the Highlanders, the Sox actually increased their Wild Card lead to 2.5 games

Didn't the Mets blow a really big lead a few years ago with something like 15 games left, they lost 14?

Possibly 2007..........

Quote
2007 Mets miss playoffs

What the math says: 499-to-1 against. The Mets' playoff probability peaked at 99.80 percent after the action of Sept. 12, when they held a 7-game lead over the Phillies with 16 games to play, and some favorable wild-card permutations as a backup.

Aggravating circumstances: Willie Randolph's clubhouse imploding; for better or for worse, this team will be used for quite some time as the example of the importance of clubhouse chemistry. Most of the damage came at the hands of the lowly Nationals and Marlins, and much of it before record-setting home crowds, while Tom Glavine finished things off with the least -- and hopefully not last -- start of his career.

Mitigating circumstances: Mathematically (as in every other sense) this was a catastrophe: The Mets' 99.80 percent chance to reach the playoffs was the second-highest figure ever by a team that failed to do so. However, there was perhaps no one signature moment or game; the loss to the Marlins in Game 162 was a symbolic in a way, but it was also an anticlimactic affair that was over by the middle of the 1st inning. Nor was the National League a great league; the Mets' only real enemies were themselves.

100 year ago today on 22 Sep 1911, Cy Young won his 511th and final game.

It was the record then, it is the record now and it'll be the record forever.

The must be the least likely record to to ever be broken in any sport.

Blimey that is some record, who is 2nd on the list?

I know it is always a big thing if a pitcher reaches 300, but 511!!

Walter Johnson is second with 417

Pitchers with 300 or more career wins (Regular Season)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/300_win_club

The active pitcher with the most wins is Tim Wakefield of the Sox with 200
