Pittsburgh, Boston, LA Kings or Rangers have a chance I think but what do I know?

Not a lot by the looks of it

I say with a little pride that I am glad I don't know much about Hockey, it is on for far too long and is only interesting in the play offs.

Me too. Although the past season was cut almost in half, I still didnt watch a single game. I wanted to watch the final just to see Boston knocked off but even then I forgot about it

Hello Ice Hockey thread. As per my college football post:

I vaguely follow a team. Its the Ottawa Senators. My cousin lived there, we visited, I watched a game.

I know fuck all about them. Fill me in.

PS I have won them the Stanley Cup countless times on Xbox ice hockey games as well!

Does anyone watch the NHL on TV these days. I was contemplating subscribing to the channel that shows it but am reluctant to because its not in HD

You really need to have HD if you are like anything like me and can't really see the puck. The regular stations pick up a lot of hocky games though and doesn't seem to be any need to pay for one. Each team plays pretty much every other day.

I usually wait for the playoffs before I entertain a game or two, actually I didn't bother watching last year. It's just not the same without a good riot ;)

I won the Stanley Cup for the "Sens" on the Xbox the other day.

Been following the coverage on Premier Sports via Virgin. Great coverage and some great games. Rekindled the love of the sport I had years ago.

Do Virgin offer Premier in HD?

I have to be honest, with the kids getting older I don't watch the Rangers as much as I used to.  One thing we have here with MSG Network is called The Rangers in 60, which is essentially a full game squashed into 1 hour.

They use pretty much all of the significant plays (in full between the whistles).  Goals, penalties, great shots, great defending, and anything else you would ever want to see.  You skip the intermissions, and the time off between bigger plays.  They use the original annoucning, which can get confusing because you miss parts of the discussion, but you can still follow the play by play.

It is kind of cheating, but whatever...

Anyone watching the Stanley Cup finals?

The Rangers are making the Kings fight hard for a fourth and decisive win. Currently 2-2 after 17 mins of overtime.

That was an epic game, won by the LA Kings to give them the Cup

Yesterday I went to my first Devils game for a couple of seasons.

It was 2-2 at the end of regulation, with the Devils winning in sudden death overtime with a Penalty Shot

This season marks 40 years since the Flyers last won the Cup - and I remember how we used to sing "1940" when the NY Rangers were in town back in the 70s.

Ugh....

Just seen that Pat Quinn died at the weekend. He always had the look of an avuncular Irishman about him that I liked. Which you might expect from someone called Pat Quinn.
