Bruins & Canadiens putting on some old time hockey. Check out the box score here:

Oh...and Sidney Crosby has been injured since early January and the world hasn't ended. Gary Bettman will be ever so disappointed.

Wow at 12:36 in the 2nd and 19:11 in the 3rd they went all Egyptian on each other

As for Sid, I'm beginning to think that he won't be back this season. US sporting authorities are at last beginning to realise the long term effects of concussion.

In baseball, Justin Morneau was concussed last season and is still doubtful for Spring Training

Just watched the last 5 minutes or so of the Montreal @ Boston game.

After a string of penalties at 17:11 in the third, it took the poor rink announcer over a minute to read them all out. Once that power play ended, all hell broke loose. I don't think that the guy even tried reading out those penalties.

The crowd and commentators were loving every minute of the game, fights and all.

Mario Lemieux is a bit upset over the Pens Isles brawl:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AgaMMxLjqcYzJUrkb3pRrBt7vLYF?slug=nc-lemieux021311

Excerpt from above:

"Who led the league in fights entering Sunday’s games? The Penguins, with 61, according to hockeyfights.com. Who led the league in penalty minutes? The Penguins, with 1,101. Who led the league in majors? The Penguins, with 63. Who ranked second in game misconducts? The Penguins, with eight – two fewer than the first-place Islanders. Who was one of four teams with a match penalty? The Penguins."

I thought that the fights in the Penguins v Islanders game were worse than those in the Boston v Montreal debacle.

I have watched hockey a long time, and have played it even longer.

I have never seen ANYTHING like what I saw in that penguins/Isles game.

And the NHL wonders why parents don't want to let their kids play hockey.  That made the sport look like a joke.

NHL playoffs open last night with only one side not winning their home opener (Anaheim - lost to Nashville). Otherwsie business as usual with the Rangers taking the Caps into OT

I've just bought a ticket to the Flyers @ Bruins playoff game at the Boston Garden (well, the new version anyway) on Wednesday.

I have only ever seen hockey in the UK. Elite League games at the Cardiff Devils & Coventry Blaze plus the two Ducks v Kings games at the Dome a few years back.

Should be an interesting experience.

Boston were excellent last night, scoring twice in the first 63 seconds and chasing Boucher from the game with two more in the second period.

They were 4-1 up with 3 minutes to play when I left for the baseball. Therefore, I missed them scoring on a power play for the first time in 30+ tries.

The seat was near the back but was at centre ice. Overall a great view and a great night out

Playoff hockey is great. Regular NHL games are a good night out but the intensity really ramps up in the playoffs.

The Bruins are thro' to the finals; beating Tampa 1-0 in game 7.

I'll be Stateside whilst the finals are on. Unfortunately I won't be in Boston this time

Welcome back to the NHL to the Winnipeg Jets.

Let's hope that Bettman retires soon and stops trying to force the NHL into weak markets in the south and west.

Go Bruins!
