Heroes Discussion / Aston Villa v Preston: Pre-match Thread

Important we bounce back.

They're a very workman like side and they don't have a centre forward. Expect them to come and sit deep and look to use Robinsons pace on the break.

They had a mare at the back last time with their injuries, but first half we overran them anyway in midfield.

With Green, Adomah and Elmo out we may well need to change our shape or see Thor shoehorned onto the right.

Axel played very well at Fulham so with a side sat deep his ridiculous pace may be interesting.

Johnstone

Hutton
Terry
Chester
Axel

Snoddy
Hourihane
Jedinak
Thor

Hogan
Grabben

Unless Grealish is back, I'd go with that with the midfield really becoming a three to press right up onto them.

2-0 Villa.

If Elmo stays on then Snoddy may well have done a better job in helping stop the attack.

2nd goal was a freak mistake at a time when Fulham were starting to sit back. It was disappointing to pick up yet another injury that disrupted our shape.

Sure they came out a bit quicker and clearly Sessingon was told to get out of Axel's pocket, but our defensive shape first half was excellent and they'd not have scored if they'd played all month.

We're a good side though and will bounce back.

Disappointing but results over the last few weeks mean that we can deal with the occasional setback. The important thing now is to respond in the right way. We have an opportunity on Tuesday to start another winning run and keep the pressure on.

I think 2nd will keep changing hands right up to the last game or two so all that matters is that we time things to be that team ahead of the rest come May.

Does anyone know what kept Jack and Bert out of yesterday’s game?
They both looked ok after the Blues game. If they have got injured in training that is absolutely infuriating.

They were both kicked from pillar to post in the blues game and both came off. I imagine adrenaline got them through the game and the true extent of their injuries got them on the Monday or Tuesday.

Calf injury for Jack and Hamstring for Albert

When the cab 4 were told that they wouldn't play again all season, another 6 claimed to have been in the taxi.

We'll, I assume the Gallagher dirge wasn't heard yesterday...

I reckon by the end of the season the fab four in question will find themselves 'Beatles For Sale'.
Typical British footballers abroad. You wouldn't find, sa.y Scandinavians behaving like that. Although maybe a Norwegian would.
