The sort of game we need to be winning if we are going to be comfortably top of the bottom half instead of hopefully top of the bottom quarter!

Very, very minor grumble, but I'd like to see Hause on the bench instead of Taylor. Otherwise, onwards and upwards. UTV

An interesting stat from the BBC:

Villa have conceded a league-high six goals after the 75th minute of games and dropped eight points from winning positions.

So we know what we need to work on.

Definitely have to win this. Won't be easy, but Everton winning and looking very good earlier should remind us of how tough this league is. Out of home games against Bournemouth, West Ham, Burnley and Brighton, winning none of them would be very poor showing indeed.

It wasn't. It was definitely a foul from Targett though in a much more dangerous area, so not sure we can moan too much about it. Should have just defended it better.

We have been very poor so far.

Wesley is so frustrating to watch!
Lack of press especially compared to Grealish.
He's hardly in the first half hour and needs to get involved
rather than not control the ball or foul jn tussles.
Come on man ! Step up !
Needs to be an outlet !! He can get us back into this once he turns up

Despite more  Brighton ball and deserve lead can turn this around
Get the ball wide up against Burn.
And get the villa attack going.

So many fouls !! And as I write
There the red card for Brighton that I predicted !!

We'll hammer them now

Wesley is some else if he's not blocking McGinns goal bound effort he's now fucking up in his challenging so goal is disallowed.
Had an absolute horrendous half I've been watching his movement
Not even making the runs when the ball is in the area
Never finds him or he never near it
His attempt was pathetic as usual in jumping to challenge
Unfortunate any touch on a GK will be given as foul.

The problem is numpties like Atkinson evaluate controversies in slow motion.. and in slow motion it looked like Wesley swings a wild elbow into the keeper sparking a reaction and appeal.

Itís not a realistic way to assess what happen. Wesley was off his feet first and went straight up. Its a completely fair play.

VAR is fucking shit. My natural reaction when we score now is not to celebrate, but to quickly rack my brain looking for any tiny reason why it might be overturned.

As for the game itself, we were very poor up until the sending off. Brighton found space so easily between our midfield and defence. Keeping hold of the ball almost at will. We've done well since the sending off because we upped the tempo, which is the way to play with a numerical advantage.

We now need to ensure we don't let another opportunity against 10 men fall through our fingers.

Moreover, VAR isnít going to overturn a referees judgement. Conorís yellow that led to the goal was a perfectly fine tackle. However, VAR isnít going to overrule the man in the middle. So well done

But have to say Jack Grealish has been unbelievable today.
Brighton can't live with him !!
Fully deserves the goal.
He picked it up in his own half played it off to Wes and then got into penalty area qnd 6 yard box and lovely slide slow mo for ball to go in

VAR is fucking shit. My natural reaction when we score now is not to celebrate, but to quickly rack my brain looking for any tiny reason why it might be overturned.

I did exactly that, scrutinized the replay very closely and satisfied myself there was no way they could find a way to disallow it, paying special attention to Wesley's challenge on the keepr - and yet they still managed it somehow.  Unbelievable.

It's being implemented terribly given clear penalties aren't being given.
