Burton would be nice.

Don’t want MK ‘Dons’.

Sky's 'big 6' (throws up on own face) with somewhat favourable draws, there. Wankers.

Pretty shit that even if we get through, every single one of the bastard teams you want to avoid will still be left in it.

Assume this will be the Wednesday as we're at Arsenal the previous Sunday.

probably not - does the away team still get a share of the gate money ?

Decent draw. And in fairness for this competition most of the top sides rest a lot of their better players. And frankly outside of Liverpool and Man City everyone is beatable anyway. So we can absolutely win this.

No peace and quiet for me until then ..... Brighton fans I know over the moon. I am... Meh. If they beat us I will never hear the end of it.

Given the 62 combinations on offer at the start of the draw, Brighton away wouldn't have been in the top 50 odd.

Away, against a smallish top division side, with no rivalry, and yet still tough to get by. The worst combination for me.

Meh. Let's hope we put a decent team out and manage a win.

If we are to survive in the Premier League we have to stop thinking of sides like Brighton being difficult fixtures.

We are the only Premier League team that is away to another. Of course it's a tough tie, suggesting otherwise is just pointless bravado. Doesn't mean we have no chance but, as ever, I wanted the easiest tie possible. And Brighton away isn't it.

Why are so many seemingly bricking it over playing Brighton? They won 6 of 19 games at home last season and they’ve not won at home yet this season. I get that it’s not ideal playing a PL club but there’s nothing to fear with Brighton.

A good barometer to keep our 2nd eleven on their toes and to prove their worthiness for the starting eleven. Better than playing another minnow. Can only help our squad to get fully tuned and in turn help our push up the league. Winnable with proper application.  :)

Yeah, a stopover for me definitely.

Before the fixture lists came out, me and my mate were hoping Brighton / Bournemouth wouldn't be in the dead of winter so we could enjoy a nice seaside stopover... that didn't work out, so this is the next best thing.  Although now my mate tells me he's on a course that week and might not be able to go.   >:(

Will they just stay down south after the arsenal match?
Shame we’re not playing city or Liverpool on the weekend after rather than Burnley. Hopefully tiredness doesn’t hit us.

I imagine that we’ll go with the same philosophy as Crewe, plenty of changes from our premier league line up. Brighten made eleven changes so it’s likely to be a question of whose got the better squad depth and hopefully it’s ya.

Play our strongest team or at least have them available on the bench (e.g. SJM/ Grealish/ Wesley) with a mix of a few squad members pushing for the first team in the starting 11 and let's see Brighton off. Let's please take the cups seriously.

As people have said not a great draw - but equally winnable with the right team selection and attitude.

I hope at some point we're a team others are desperate to avoid. It seems like ages since we had a decent run in either of the cups.

They were one of my tips to go down. If we put out a fairly strong team, we shouldn't have anything to fear.

I can’t see with what is wrong with the starting selection in pre season games - start with our strongest selection and then use the subs when job is done

Portsmouth v Southampton is the live Tuesday night game. I honestly think Brighton v Villa is the most attractive Wednesday fixture. Certainly better than MK Dons v a Liverpool second XI. Plus The SKY team would only have to shift their equipment down the South Coast.

I live near MK and it's a conflict of interest for lots of MK Dons fans as they support both teams

there will be more day trippers and tourists there than at the Trevi Fountain

Sports streams tend to be pulled pretty quickly though. We may be back the days of someone on Facebook live streaming from their seat at the match for this one.

It is a ball-ache to get to the ground from the centre of Brighton where I imagine most of us are staying / drinking.

Is it difficult to get to the ground from the main station and what are the trains like coming back from Brighton to London?

Two years ago the Friday night game ended at 10pm and we had a pint in the ground to let the crowds subside. We got a train into Brighton without too much difficulty but then Southern did their usual abysmal job and cancelled trains, switched platforms with no notice etc.

We got to Victoria around 1.30am and luckily I can get home on the night tube so was back around 2am. Fans who drove would probably have been back in Brum before we were home in London.

Shame because the stadium  and staff were decent and Brighton is great for drinking.
