Passed away last week after 75 years of supporting Villa , home and away. Miss him desperately.
One of the few to have seen us win the FA cup at Wembley, 5 League cups, and win the League at Highbury. Shame that work commitments stopped him joining me and my brother in Rotterdam.Born in Aston to a Villa family so died in the wool, but living in Northfield and working in Smethwick wasn't easy in the 60's and 70's! First took me and my brother in 1966, and despite the desperate results we loved it. Supporting Villa really became fun when the Doc arrived and clouds boomed. Our regular spot on the Holte, just over halfway back to the left of the goal as you looked at the pitch, filled with the same friendly faces each week as I perched on my stool with my Dad holding onto me.Will never forget the Man u semi win, the Holte was rocking.
3rd Division days were awesome. We started doing away trips and there were Villa fans everywhere.Nots Co away stands out as the whole side of the ground was bouncing as we won 3-0. Charlie Aitken was his favourite, a model of consistency and loyalty. And then came Saunders. The perfect manager for Dad. Very expensive for him though taking 3 kids to Wembley and both replays in 1977.
Strangest experience at VP was watching my younger brother, seduced to the dark side in the Francis era, score for Fulham against us.Dad didn't know whether to laugh or cry!Last game was the play-off final. Think he'll be watching a few more as a Holteender in the sky. Thanks for everything Dad UTV

Sincere condolences to you, your family and his friends. I'm old enough to have shared his Villa supporting experiences only I was lucky enough to get to Rotterdam. RIP Gerry.

GXVilla sincere condolences to you and your family. HEITS! UTV!

I really feel for you GXVilla. I am arranging the funeral of my little (!) brother, together we shared many of your experiences - although we were right side Holte. Les would have loved the last few games, taking the mickey out of the noses and bitters at the Cons Club. Both genuine Holte Enders in the Sky. Stay strong and remember the good times.

Condolences to you and your family GXVilla and RIP to Gerry Morgan. Reading it, it reminds me so much of my father. I spoke to him the other day and he said he'd love to see us again. Ill health makes that unlikely but I'd love to get him down to Villa Park, probably one last time.
We started under Vic Crowe but the Saunders years nobody will ever take away from us. Like you, we were there in 77. We truly were 'The Chosen Few'. Nobody can ever take away those days. Stay strong, my friend.

RIP Gerry.

Hold on to those experiences and they will stand you in good stead - I still relish the Villa days I had with my
