Title: Aston Villa v Boro Pre Match Thread
Post by: Dave P on March 15, 2019, 06:11:25 AM
Surprised this hasn’t been started yet so, as I did the one in the week, I’ll,take the lead.

I’m confident for this game and I’m sure the players are. Sure Boro won’t fancy playing us after their recent form and the result earlier in the season.

It’ll be tight but we’ll win 2-0. Tammy and Conor

Good man Dave. Let’s get this going. We’ll have too much for Dino Penis. More fluid, more ideas, more energy. Stick me down for 3-1

Tammy, Jack, Mings
Who cares for them

8-8. Don't blame me, blame the precognition of maths.

Failing that, 3-0. Same starting 11 as Wednesday, if Forest couldn't play their way effectively through our minimalist midfield, Boro won't.

Green, Abraham, Mings. All in the first half, Tiny spends second half with 11 behind the ball to hold what he has.

Huge game.

Given their recent form and that we can close the gap to a point, I fully expect Pulis to come and sit deep, pack the midfield and keep things as tight as possible.

The first goal is huge and we must get it.

Same team as started on Wednesday for me.

Don't seem to do particularly well at home, 2 wins out of 12 games since 2000.
I reckon Pullis will come for 0-0 hoping to nick one, so we need to score early on to open them up.

The issue will be we now all have expectations of a simple win.
Is their big lump of a CH suspended following his dismissal?

Could be of benefit and first goal critical in a tight affair

1-0 Adomah

This is one of those games that feels pivotal. Win and we keep the momentum up and pressure on going into the international break. Lose or draw and we hand the initiative back to others.

As Pulis has no chance of autopro he will want to preserve  his teams position in the play offs so I expect multiple double deckers parked as he tries to get away with a draw. Well fuck off..... 4-0 Villa.

Daniel Ayala will be available for Middlesbrough's trip to Aston Villa this weekend after his red card against Preston was successfully overturned.

The Spanish centre-back was shown a straight red card by referee Keith Stroud during Boro's 2-1 defeat by the Lilywhites on Wednesday.

Boro quickly appealed Ayala's 'wrongful dismissal' following the defender's tackle on Preston's Brandon Barker.

The decision would have ruled Ayala out of the Championship fixtures against Aston Villa, Norwich, Bristol City.

The FA issued the following statement regarding their decision: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, Daniel Ayala will be available for Middlesbrough’s next three matches.

“The defender was sent off for serious foul play during the game against Preston North End on Wednesday [13/03/2019] but a claim of wrongful dismissal was subsequently upheld.”

Both Boro boss Tony Pulis and Preston manager Alex Neil felt Stroud made the wrong decision by sending Ayala off at a key moment in the match.

Fucking hell.  He took off from 6 ft out, was at high speed and completely out of control, missed the ball with his leading foot and scissored the player down in what could easily have been a leg breaker and he gets off?

I'm normally quite a pessimist when it comes to predicting how we'll do, but we seem to be scoring goals from midfield and Abraham is due to score. We could easily have had 4 against a good Forest side.

4-2 Villa.

Here we go, ASTON VILLA
