Title: Reading Away Allocation
Post by: dorsetvillian on December 30, 2018, 08:23:08 PM
Heard a rumour yesterday on way to game that we will not get a full allocation at Reading. Have other teams this season been given the whole end as usual?

Yep, its reduced to 2,219 as they've opened up more seats to home fans.

Surely It will be empty as usual?

Utterly pointless opening it given half the ground is always empty. Their prerogative of course and their own lost revenue.

Does seem odd that their highest attendance is 8000 off their capacity.

Had a quick look at this yesterday and I don't think k they've played anybody yet that would have taken the full allocation anyway, so fingers crossed?

They've got a couple of hundred fans on the other side of the away end as a 'singing section', they're proper cringe. We will only get 2200.

I was stood right next to them last season - Silly little kids trying to make eye contact with you for the entire game.

Modern football I guess.  Back in the 70s, the idea was to try to keep rival fans apart wherever possible - Nowadays, they try to get them as close to each other as possible "to create an atmosphere".  Pathetic.

I know that income from paying customers isn't great but given they could well be dropping a division next season, perhaps we could put a bit of pressure on them and secure a bigger allocation?

Taken from Readings website:

"In order to accommodate Club 1871, visiting supporters for the 2018-19 season will have a maximum allocation of an estimated 2,600 tickets for league fixtures"

When I went to watch Walsall play there in the cup in 2016 the other stand behind the goal was nearly completely empty and they were all congregated in the corner shouting abuse at the Walsall fans.

It would be like hardly anyone in the Holte and us filling the lower Witton out.

Such a weird and non-descript club.

Given their very average history I am amazed they were created so early compared to bigger and better clubs.

After today's nonsense, I'd like to put myself near the head of the queue offering a well furnished away history reference number.

I would never want it to get to that but if we lost to Wigan and Hull - see how away attendances could potentially drop.

Is there a neutral section or somewhere where Villa fans can sit and not get harrassed in the home end?

They'll be the thick end of 15000 empty seats, so take your pick.

I couldn't get a ticket when we won 2-1 there in 2008 so registered with the club and got a ticket next to the away end (on the left as you look at the pitch, not to the right where they have that little singing section).  People around me were fine. It helped having a London postcode but you should be fine on that score.

Down side was having them text me ticket offers for the next 2 years. That was the main reason I went to live in China.

Three of our group will be seated in the East Stand.

Yes behind the other goal. Hardly any Reading fans sit there which I find totally bizzare.

I've watched us twice before, sitting in that stand.  On those occasions I was with a mate who supports Reading.  This time I'm going on my own, but I'm not anticipating a problem. Behave sensibly and you should be fine. The view of the pitch is excellent.

Been living down in Reading not far from the Madejski for the last year, so this weekend seems like a good time to pay it a visit. Is it strictly undercover mission in the home stands?

Only about an inch on the ground and main roads are clear. Game should go ahead.

Light drizzly rain now so footpaths should be slushy at worst as long as there is no more snow tonight.
