Police have already stated we're not getting both tiers there, so just the 1900.

I think we know why - could get very messy otherwise!

They have had that number of away fans there before. We shouldn't be penalised for the behaviour of opposition fans. If the police feel that Millwall cannot host a game at the end of the season without such restrictions in place, the League should ensure that Millwall are not at home last game of the season.

Where is this announcement, I can't find it online?

You mean like Brighton at ours could have been a promotion decider last season?

We won't be getting the bottom tier. Get over it.

We should have given Brighton more tickets, I said so at the time. But they weren't being punished unfairly compared to any other club, as we are if the OP is correct. They were given the maximum allocation that other away teams get at Villa Park.

It's amazing how your heart bleeds for a Villa fan who may miss out due to the rotten swines that let friends use their references, but if I disagree with a decision to deny thousands of Villa fans a chance to go to what could be our most important game in three years, I should "get over it".

I hope the Millwall fans slash your drunk-driven car's tires.

It's not worth falling out over.

We aren't going to get more tickets. Teams get more tickets there in the FA Cup but the maximum allocation for league games is lower.

I wished we had 10,000 tickets but unfortunately, the bottom line is that we're just going to get the upper tier.

The maximum allocation for league games at Millwall is far higher than we are being given, if the OP is correct. I don't expect Millwall to open extra stands. These are seats that will remain empty unless Villa fans buy them. It's nothing to do with cup allocations.

Why are you so confident that it is accurate? Do you have a link to the statement saying we aren't getting more?

See what the Met say. If they do it for the Cup they can do it for us.

League rules are 20% or 2,000, whichever is lower. The upper tier holds 2,100 I believe, which is all that Millwall are obliged to give. In the FA Cup, they have to give 25% although even this can be swerved if the police have an input.

Title: Re: Millwall Away
Post by: PeterWithesShin on February 15, 2018, 05:12:52 PM
Pretty sure the rule is 2K for a capacity of 20K+ or 10% for capacity below that. In the PL it's 3K or 10%, dependant on capacity.

And the FA Cup is 15%.

And here it is https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/efl-rules--regulations/section-5--fixtures/

Quote
34.2.1 Each Club must make provision for at least 2,000 visiting supporters at every home match or such number as represents 10% of the Club’s certified capacity, if less than 2,000. The League may, on the prior written application of a Club, suspend this Regulation or reduce the figure either for a particular League Match or for a period of time. Each Club shall, subject to any dispensations granted by the Board, make provision for at least 200 of the visiting supporters to be accommodated under cover. Any Club which fails to meet the requirement of 200 visiting supporters being accommodated under cover and which does not have a dispensation granted by the Board shall have such amounts as the Board shall determine (in its absolute discretion) withheld from that Club’s central distributions from the Pool Account until such time as the Club can meet the requirement.

Not for league games. They open it for cup games when they have to, due to the FA Cup allowing bigger allocations.

They won't open the bottom tier unless the Met give it a nod. No reduced allocation but no more than we would normally get.

WMP confirmed last week we would only be receiving 2000 for Millwall. We requested 4000 but Millwall and their police said no. Their fans invade the pitch after every final home game each season and they didn't want us in the lower tier.

I could get away with that with my London accent, but good luck to the rest of you. I've been to Millwall on many occasions but have never seen any team brave (or stupid) enough to go in the home end.
We would have already sealed promotion by then so it's not a big deal.

I’ve sat in the home end at Millwall for a game against us. Went in the Barry Kitchener stand with my daughter ( who was wearing a Villa shirt). It might have only been Millwall Lionesses v Aston Villa ladies but it got a bit awkward when we jumped up and cheered our equaliser. Not quite on the same scale as the cup match there the other season though.

I used to play football for the Price of Wales in Kennington (a real Millwall pub) and they tolerated me as a Villa fan because I played for the pub team, but come game day, I avoided the guys I drank with and played football with, as they would have seen me as fair game. Some of these guys were really frightening.

Only away team I've ever seen occupy it were West Ham a few times and even then the front 4-5 rows were sectioned off and a mass of police behind the goal so you probably wouldn't be able to see much anyway.

I don't think lower tier was given for the cup game a few years back.

For 30-60 minutes I reckon, just like the cup game 5 years ago.

I was in their end behind the goal in 1988 (all ticket game, living in London, had to rely on a football teammate to get me a ticket) when we played at the old Den. A very sizeable minority of their fans were vocally racist to the point where it felt like the majority. It is the opposite of a good day out.

One of the worst away days that. Penrith to Millwall, dire game, locked in for an hour then back to the north west through the snow. Had to get the missus out of bed at 3am to drive the car while I dug the snow out to get the car back onto the estate and up the drive. Chronic.

Think Everton had it in the cup. Watford and Charlton ring a bell aswell. Because it could be a big game for both teams and because Millwall go on the pitch at the end of every last home game, we were never going to get the lower tier.

Their scummy fucking fans don't give a shit about revenue, they just want to get on the pitch at the final whistle and chase John Terry. What the club made in extra seat sales they'd have to spend on Police if we had the lower tier.

Yes, I think they may have been local kids that were specially invited by the LB of Lewisham. Another great initiative by the club that goes unreported as people prefer to focus on how a minority of their fans used to behave 2 decades ago.

In fairness, it was more than a minority and they still have their fair share of idiots today. This is why the special measures and a restricted allocation was in place when we played them earlier this season. These measures were not in place on the back of what happened 2 decades ago. I wonder if our fans will be locked in after the game "for our own safety"? Or worse still, what will happen if we get something from the game which will deny them a play off place?

We saw what their fans are still like when the appeared at Wembley last season in the play offs.

Some clubs still have their fair share of neanderthals and Millwall are (and always have been) right up there.

Point taken, although trust me on this, my 2 trips to the Old Den in Division One were a million miles worse than anything their new ground could throw up. It was intimidating to say the least.

As for this season’s home game against Millwall, I didn’t see a single incident all afternoon, including on the train up and back from London.

I live in that area now and they are very unpredictable. If they want to play up, nobody can stop them.
Anyone needing a good boozer, give me a pm.

We cannot make this so I have 3 adult tickets available if anyone needs them before I send them back the the club.

Face value which I think is £26 each.

If anyone needs transport, there's a coach going from Knowle & Dorridge cricket club directly in/out of the ground.  £20 - PM if you need contact details.

Usually at Millwall the away fans are kept in until the last of their tramps have left the stadium and have returned on the train back to London Bridge. As they'll be their annual pitch invasion and lap of....whatever, does anyone know if we'll have to wait until their "party" is over before we're allowed out ?
