One of my favourites, dirty stripey bastards
-
I was only 7 at the time and still remember the sound of his leg breaking.
-
Blimey, remember that as if it was yesterday! Cropley was a great player. Thanks for posting.

I was a good bit older than that but I can still hear it too.
-
I remember it well, also the chants at The Hawthorns of Alex,Alex Cripley
-
I was sitting in lower trinity directly in line with the assault
-
I must have been sitting near to you villan from luton
-
If I remember it was freezing that day
People go on about their great football I remember them more for the likes of Chantello brown and wile dirty gits.

I was the good looking young lad :)

Loved Alex. Was 12 in 1977 and played in midfield and was blonde like him. Remember listening to Tony Butler (probably whilst playing subbuteo) announcing that Croply had broken his leg. Gutted. he was never the same
-
The thing is the game was already won and lost for them when Cantello took Cropley's leg. So much for their wonderful football blar blar blar
-
It was Ally Brown.
-
...Cantello was the one who put Ray Graydon out of football for about four months with a late, knee-high 'tackle'.
Don't think he was ever the same again.
-
my favourite ever villa player
we would of won the league before 80/81 if he would not of been crippled by that dirty stripey bastard
I hate them more than the blues cause of them taking the piss when he was stretchered off.
-
Jaws Cropley.
One of my favourite players, immense in defense and a great eye for a pass.
There were quite a few disagreements about that tackle at Witton station and on the trains back to town.
-
Was his leg break just after we had sold them deehan

Was his leg break just after we had sold them deehan
I am reasonably certain Deehan was a frequent replacement for Andy Gray for a while (injuries and post-transfer) so reckon he didn't leave until around 1979-80.
Funnily enough, I can't recall too many of Deehan's goals after the 1976-77 season.
-
Deehan's final game for us was Sept 15th 1979.
