Another win for me.
If Kodija is fit do you start him?
-
Let’s have a poll then!
-
Let’s have a poll then!
Give a brother a chance! I’m a few beers in
-
6-0 Five from JT and one from Johnstone.
-
Tight 1-0 win
-
I probably would start Kodjia if he is fit...... but I do have that nagging doubt, is it ever wise to change a winning side? I mean, we had pretty much no weak links with the starting 11 at Preston. So why change that?
Nice problem to have though... :)
-

When is this match and what time is the kick off? When did we sign Kodija?😂
-
Another win for me.

Yep, play him and Adomah either side of Davis. Give Snodgrass a bit of a rest and bring him on in the latter stages of the game,
-
Same team for me with Jimmy on the bench and Birkir missing out.
2-1 and the Villa go marching on on on!
-
Very tight game. 2-1 Villa. Weds have been on a bad run up to the previous game but they're still a very dangerous side.
-
They've got some good players for this league so it's going to be tough. Hopefully Nick a 1-0 win.
-
Difficult game they need the 3 points perhaps more we do. This may help us with our own counter attacking 2-1 the villa.
-
any type of win for me, as said above a tight game this one.
UTV
The Doc
-
0-0
-
Win: 2-1 (think we've only won by more than 1 goal at home once?)
There's a case for freshening it up, but on balance, Same 11 for me, unless Jedinak comes in for Whelan
Bench: Grealish for Bjarnason and Kodjia for hogan if fit
-
Gone gung ho for a Villa win. They haven’t got Trevor Francis now, which is a bonus!
-
Was this fixture when les sealy went mad at the end of the game early 90s.
-
3-1
Atkinson x 2
Staunton
Hirst
-
Start with the same side. Bring Kodjia on, rather than Hogan late doors.
-
If we could get another three points going into yet another international break, that would be very nice. I'd stick with the same side and it's going to be a very strong bench whoever is on it which is good.
-

scum francis needs a shoeing.
-
FTF
Villa 3 Wednesday 0
Gary Shelton hat trick (for us, obvs)
-
4-2
-
Bruce mentioned Kodjia, Snodgrass and Onohma were struggling, so sounds like he's going to have to freshen it up one way or other.
-
1-1.
-
I'm going for a 2-0 win again and keep our good form going.
-
Would like to see us play with a #10 be it Jack / O’Hare or even Lansbury just to have someone ratting around Bannan as he has a lot of cheap possession in deep areas to set them going forward. Particularly enjoyed the pressure applied by front players the other week against Fulham, more of the same please :-)
-
I think Waddle might score for them. He’s been in good form lately. I just think we’l have too much. Daley will burn them, Platt and Cowans will control the middle. Benteke to dominate them in the air. I’ll say 3-1.
-
Punch up on witton roundabout twf and Wednesday. ooh tah ooh tah to be a wittioner!
-
2-0. Freshen it up a bit. Taylor at LB Hutton switch to RB and push Elmo up to RW. Maybe Jack instead of Josh. I'd leave Kodj on the bench and bring him on only if required. I'd rather he be back to full fitness before we use him again.
-
Great. Keep us updated on actual and potential fights.

I've probably jinxed it and gone for a Villa win.
Don't care by how many or who scores. Just win.

If the three doubts are out I reckon that's what he'll do. Alternative is to play jack and Adomah wide w hourihane at 10, Jedi and whelan deeper. Looks defensive on paper but we've actually looked a real threat in the last two games once Jedi came on. Gives us a very solid platform to spring from, tho perhaps more suitable away from home
-
Don't want to see Elmo in one of the advanced forward positions again, it didn't work start of season and he's done fine at RB.
Rather see De Laet there as he nearly scored in the Fulham game from that position.
Tomorrow might not be the worst game for two out and out strikers, Sheff Weds play 4-4-2 so if we match them up I like to think we won't suffer too much.
-
This is a must win as Bristol City are playing Cardiff this weekend so we can gain on one or both of them. The other teams around us have winnable games too so we must keep up.
-
2-1 win, similar to the Fulham match.
Kodjia is our best player (despite never passing to his own team mates), so surely (?) your start with your best player? Harsh on whoever is left out though.
-
Sheffield Wednesday aren't doing well away from home, to say the least. One win very early on in the season but, since then, beaten by complete pish like Small Heath and Bolton.
A game we simply should win.

Yawn.
As for the match, 3-1 to us.
-
Was this fixture when les sealy went mad at the end of the game early 90s.
Yeah. Nigel Jemson with his dubious goal near the end on that terrible goaless droubt we had.
-

Oh God, not another "must win"?
Can't we just have one game where a draw wouldn't be the end of the World as we know it? The pressure is getting to me.

Steve 'must win' Bruce. It's sounds familiar.
-
We should win this, but Sheffield need results. Think it will go to whoever wants it more. I hope we set up with Davis starting.

I must confess I once got into a fight with a Sheffield Wednesday fan.
If being punched in the stomach without any warning or provocation as I was walking along outside Hillsborough minding my own business after Dalian had torn them a new one counts as a"fight."

you only grass on a nonce.

Bruce on O’Hare: “He’ll get his chance. He might even get his chance tomorrow."
Caroline, yes!
-
I'd forgotten about the Sealey going yampy incident at home to Wednesday. And what about Dion breaking his neck against them and playing on for a while? I remember giving him stick for not trying after the incident.
2-0

Does your culture involve running your fists all over gruff Yorkshiremen?
-
Say that again, but slower...
-
And all this has what, exactly, to do with the match?
-
2-0 lets keep the momentum going.
-
I think its to do with the green sand put down for the Sealey game

My guess, just a sad twat.

There’s a match??

5:0 and Davis will get 6 of them......... Oops sorry I still haven't fully cleansed myself from being near the stadium of stupid last week

Or a verge.
By my reckoning I owe you one cigarette for your initial piece of advice, but given that you overlooked something that I then pointed out to you, then we're even. However, you did imply that you had the status of a trusted adviser initially, so it is standard for me to ask for a penalty snout on top of the quid pro quo agreement already established, without which I will have no option but to seek recompense via the ombudsman under the Tucker Jenkins ruling of the ECHR.
-
Their manager seems to have been under pressure all season. After a couple of play off failures and Sheffield United's form this season (including their derby win against Wednesday) the fans are frustrated. Let's hope he is under even more pressure after todays game.
-
Comfortable 3-0 win today. Jedinak, Elmo and Davis.
-
I've predicted defeats in the last 2 so I'll continue that theme in the hope that we get something from this too. Seriously though I think we're hard to predict at the moment, it really depends how the opposition play. I think we're at the stage where we can cruise to comfortable wins against teams that lack any quality or are not 'at it' but I don't have enough confidence in us to meet fire with fire when we play a team that have a few good players and are 'up for it', and I still think we'll drop points.
-
Can’t see anything other than a win today
-
We will win this by two goals. And any danger of getting the inevitable ban of rim gk done early so the rest of us can just talk football?
-

football has a sub culture, a social side some of us are very proud of our north Birmingham roots, for some Aston Villa =North Birmingham, but anyone can support them our supporters are different but equal. Why would want to ban a fellow villa fan for being different to you. I don't say you shouldn't support villa as you are not north Birmingham, you can be the individual you are and that applies to me too.
-
Just win villa.I'll say it quietly but I may be able to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Just hope I don't get hit by a bloody train now though.

Engaging in breathless rough and trouble with a load of sweaty Northerners is not "culture". And Villa come from all over Birmingham, and beyond.
Now feel free to comment on the actual match and stop boring everyone with your fisty tedium.

That's a bit 1970's isn't it? I thought the modern way is to do a bit of pavement dancing while shouting "come on", then getting straight on to social media claiming a 'result'.

4.0

Does Carlton Palmer still play for them?
Haha. I watched a video of him recently and he was a little upset about something Le Tissier had said about him. I can't remember the context, though.
Enjoy the match, Aftab!
3-1 to us I reckon.
-
think we will win 2 0

And
Matt Le Tissier = Footballer
Carlton Palmer = Anything but

I'm actually feeling cautiously optimistic about today (!), so I'm going our boys to snaffle a cheeky 2-1 victory.

I'll be buying Sheff Utd tickets soon, and taking my wife to her first Villa match on December 23rd. If I remember correctly, you'll be in Australia at that point enjoying the cricket. Hopefully I'll be back home in May to either celebrate automatic promotion or for a victory at Wembley in the playoff final.
Was Carlton Palmer really that bad? My memories of Le Tissier were usually of him scoring last minute goals against us when I was about 10.
-
Carlton Palmer was the sort of player you needed if you were playing a Le Tissier type. Oh and he scored a last minute screamer against us once. Palmer that is, Le Tissier did it all the time.
-
Someone’s told me they’ll be a bugler playing The Last Post right before the match today. Fuckin hell.

I don't need a lesson on support and where they come from. I have lived both here and further south long enough.
I just want you to drop the tedious "they are all ******, I hit them when I was younger" thing on every thread you post on.
Fair enough? Particularly given this one is about the match today.
-

Had it the last few seasons IIRC. Is there a particular problem with it seeing as the club have stated that they will be acknowledging Remembrance Day at the game today?
-
No one gives a shit if you, or anyone, are from North Brum or the North Pole. Being Villa is all that matters.
-
Seems that Kod, Onomah & Snoddie all doubts for today but, Jack & Lansbury may be in the squad.
We do have options though so line up will be interesting. UTV

Remember playing against Calton Palmer as a kid. He came on as a sub and we told him in no uncertain terms why he was on the bench. Years later and who had the last laugh..!!

He was at my school and sometimes couldn't get into our sixth form team. He is the ultimate example of application over talent, fair play to him. He got on a YOP scheme at the Albion and worked his socks off and ended up playing for England.
Great quote about him from some manager or other that I heard was that he covered every blade of grass on the pitch...mainly because his first touch was so bad.
-
Carlton Palmer, have we not signed him yet?

I think he used to play for a few Sunday Smethwick teams. Then moved up one level and played for albion.
-
Yep thick Mike. ..fair play to him. His first touch was cap but he worked his socks off and you can't knock that. A bit like Alan Hutton.
-
Cp also came out in big rons defence after the comment that got him the sack from itv.
-
I'm not sure that there is a defence for those comments.
-
One of my happiest away days was the fixture at Hillsborough where we came back from 2-0 down to win.
I'll settle for the same today.

I remember the South Yotkshire police escorting the buses. They were drrssed like a aparamilitary force. Sone of them were head to toe in black leather. Letting us into a pub milrs from anywhere. We had about two pints and then they came in aftet 15 mins and took glasses out of our hands and sheperded us back on to the buses. Deffinitely the bad old days. Great result though. It was Big Rons first gamr?? And the Leppings LANE end was re-opened that day

It will be one of the things he will be remembered for - the fact it is still being discussed over a dozen years later means thus.

he will only be rembererd for positive things at villa park, old Trafford, wba and Sheffield Wednesday and many more.

The momentum is with us, the home form has been solid, and more importantly they are really a struggling. Another bad result could spell the end for Carlos. 3-0 Villa. Kodja, Hourihane and Hutton.

Know what you mean (I think).
But Regis, Batson and Carlton Palmer are hardly wilting wallflower or Uncle Tom-types, and they all condemned the comments whilst speaking positively about his character.
Just because they had once played for him, they didn't need to do that if they thought he was a racist oaf.
