Not the worst half of the day, which was at Anfield, but close.

Was going to mention that match. Very similar to this in Wolves having a lot of play but with almost an extra man as they don't have a striker. Lots of good play in and around the box.

I'm not sure that Wolves can play any better. For all their possession they've looked most dangerous at set pieces.

Think one goal good enough here.

We say that but it only takes one Wolves goal and it's another poor 1-0 away defeat under Bruce.

With what we have on the pitch we should be at least capable of having some decent strikes on target and have a spell of pressure. Have we even had a corner?

The role Whelan is playing he really needs to show more energy.

The role Whelan is playing really shows what an arse Bruce is. Be prepared for Whelan to have his usual shit second half, misplacing passes and looking dead on his feet. If only we had a player like Hourihane that could play in the role Whelan has been given.

I'm a bit surprised by the reaction here. We playing one of the better teams in the league and have limited them to one shot on target. We closing down well and putting a shift in. We just need to find a way of getting our better players 20 yards further forward. JK needs to be a bit stronger and KD should have had a pop first time then on his other opening taken a touch or two towards goal. Not the disaster that seems to be being described on the pages.

We've managed to contain them pretty well.

They are a much better team than us, their passing is way better than ours, but whilst they are the better team, they really haven't looked hugely like scoring.

This is the way Bruce teams play. It's not great to watch, but when you see halves like this one, you start to understand why it works more often than not.

I feared the worst during the first 15 minutes, but Wolves have been blunted by our rather ugly defensive strength. I don't know about anybody else - but Jimmy Danger looks to me to be a shadow of his former self this season. I'd like to think we'd have the capacity to hit 'em with a sucker-punch second half, but I can't see it happening tbh. Here's hoping I'm proved wrong...

Davies looks out of it today, maybe Hogan on for second half.

Trouble is, when Davis goes off who will hold up the ball up front? The ball just bounces off Hogan at the best of times. Davis holds onto possession which is vital for us.

Would like us to show more going forward otherwise it's like many of the away defeats last season.

It's not impossible to score at Molineux, Cardiff got 2 there and Bristol City scored 3 a few weeks back.

Apparently they have an actual proper striker on the bench. If he comes on and we keep giving their wings so much space...

Davies looks out of it today, maybe Hogan on for second half.

Trouble is, when Davis goes off who will hold up the ball up front? The ball just bounces off Hogan at the best of times. Davis holds onto possession which is vital for us.

Think you might have a point. Kodjia looks dead at the moment. Did he play over the internationals weekend.

Adomah not at his best either.

This sums up the problem with playing for a clean sheet and hoping for a goal to get the win, as soon as the opposition has 1-2 players who can make a goal from nothing you always run the risk of going a goal down and looking like you don't really care about getting back into it because everyone is still playing to the same defensive plan.

Hogan on for Kodjia should mean we keep the ball on the floor a bit more but we all know we won't.

It's not about the formation really, it's that we hold to the shape rigidly.  If you're properly coached the formation is the defensive shape that you fall back into but with the ball you're trying to move out of it and create mismatches and overlaps.

me too and I'm seriously overweight and have had 4 knee operations in the last 12 years.

Ask yourself why he's being played as a box to fucking box midfielder by our arsehole of a manager when he hasn't the bloody legs to play the position?

Also, Glen fucking Whelan.  No.

Haven't beaten a single team so far who have a positive goal difference, flat track bullies who won't get anywhere near automatic promotion, no matter what guff and bluster Bloated Bruce comes out with his dull as shit, plodder football won't be going up this season, no matter how many times he tells us it's ridiculous to panic because he's a promotion expert.

Bruce, to give him credit, is probably quicker than our center back pairing, their movement is way to much for plodding defenders. Hutton has assured his name will be on the team sheet until he is the scapegoat after our next terrible run.

Wolves have the league tied up. They won't lose many. That said, there's no other team in the division to be worried about. I mean Leeds have lost about their 5th game on the bounce so 2nd is wide open. We've gone 8 unbeaten, we were bound to lose at some point.

Whilst we accept managers who put teams out to play like this?  Could be lots.

If we start demanding a manager who makes the team better than the sum of it's parts and a team that's worth what we've spent on it then hopefully the next manager will be enough.

This is exactly how teams beat Bruce's sides in the premier league as well, get into them early and get a goal up then you can just sit deep and counter attack and he'll play into your hands.
