League cup semi final 1994. I was in the lakes with the family at the time and watching on tv. I'm glad bozzie married that girl!
*1982 and 1957 don't count
-
I went to the first leg and on the evening of the home leg gave my ticket to a mate as I wasn't in a good place (it was Halesowen).
Can't think of a match off the top of my head that I really wish I'd been at.

2015 FA Cup semi Final
I was living abroad at the time and if it had been played on the Saturday I might have been able to make it back but Sunday was a no go.
IIRC they fannyed about with deciding which game would be played on which day because Liverpool still had to play their replay which made it harder for me to plan to come back.
-
Villa 5 Liverpool 1 - 15th December 1976. I was only 5 and it was midweek game.
-
Plymouth away in 71/72. The only game I missed in the 3rd division promotion season. Still never been to Home Park.
-
Inter at home in 1990. Watched it on TV, one of the most complete and greatest performances I've seen..... albeit only on the telly.
-
In my lifetime: the League Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester United in December 1970.
In my time machine: the FA Cup final on 10th April 1897. The only time a club has completed the league and Cup double on the same day and I'd love to experience the Villa during the greatest era and take in Victorian England.
-
Highbury in 81 and Rotterdam in 82. Other than that I have been lucky enough to be at all memorable games from December 1970.
-
Quite a few I am afraid
Leeds Centenary Game
Sheff Wed promotion night game
Everton at Goodision first away win back in Div 1
Glasgow Rangers friendly
Royal Antwerp away
Liverpool 5-1 midweek
Leeds away 1980 the only game I missed that season
Swindon promotion game
Arsenal away league cup semi
I promise to stay away if we need something at Millwall and although I will regret missing the game I will have done my duty to the Villa.
-
As an eleven year old I was lucky enough to be behind the goal Withey scored in in Rotterdam. Top tier, front row.
The game(s) I wish I had been at? We may have lost but it would be quite a claim to fame to say you had been in Tokyo for the World Club Championship game against Penarol. I am guessing Highbury May 1981 was a good day out.

This one for me.
-
me too I was at college in Sheffield at the time and couldn't get down to the game.
-
Plymouth away in 71/72. The only game I missed in the 3rd division promotion season. Still never been to Home Park.
Is that the one we lost 3-2? I was at it, a nightmare to get to and back from. It seemed like we were on the road for days, and we played like shit! Be thankful.
-
The Holtes last stand :(
-
Probably the 6-2 v Everton even though I saw it on TV.
My Dad said I could choose between that or the Palace game. I'd seen Villa v Everton the previous season so chose the Palace one (which was ok but not as good as Everton)

I once spent a few days in Bristol and Plymouth with two mates in 1997. I was single at the time and liked both places for the pubs, clubs and women. I have never been to the Plymouth ground. It was one of the few I missed in '87-'88 as I was in Blackpool on a family and friends (and Nev ;)) coach trip that weekend. Four of us went to watch Blackpool v Walsall. I remember missing the away game at Coventry the season before for the same reason.
-
League cup final second reply verses Everton. Went to two semis and two finals and never saw us win. A nineteen year old wage couldn't stretch to seeing Chris Nicholl scoring from 90 yards out

I was at the Rangers game and believe me that is one game you should be grateful you missed. There were the worst scenes I have ever seen at VP or any other football match.

With the obvious exceptions of 82 and 57 (although I was told retrospectively I had a chance of going to Rotterdam but I'm not bitter), Swindon away stands out - I was working in a Tesco Bakery - as does Sheff Weds in BFR's first game (family wedding).
-
The Coca-cola 2nd leg against Tranmere. Probably one of my favourite games to re watch growing up. That game had everything. Can still see BFR chubby red cheeks at the end of the game.
-
The Inter UEFA cup game in 1994.
The atmosphere seemed unreal, watched it and taped it live on VHS, then watched the whole thing again when I finished work the next day.
-
Everton (a) 1990 3-3.

The Rangers 'friendly' is one for a new thread to be entitled Games you wish you wish had never attended. It was a horrible day. I was 14 and it was a whole new Villa/football experience for me.
-
57 f.a. cup final to complete my set of seeing us win everything else sadly I was born in 1959 so missed out on a ticket by two years.
pretty much went to most of the games mentioned above from utd semi in 1970 to present date the Liverpool 5-1 seems like it was only a few years ago

I was there, thankfully!

I was at that game.
As we walked into the Holte the Police just pointed us to the Witton.
I vaguely remember The Villa singing 'Come and 'ave a go if you think you're 'ard enough' ......... And they did ;D
-
Tranmere.
Too young back then.
-

I missed that one as I was working abroad but was at both legs of the Inter games in 1990. The atmosphere on the Holte that night was fantastic. I'm not sure I have been at a game where in the time between the goals being scored and the celebrations dying down I was as far away from where I was originally standing.

Still quite a good result though with Platt scoring the winner in the last minute after we were 0-1 down.
-
4-0 against Liverpool in 1899.
-
In my adult lifetime, the 3-3 at Everton stands out as one I wish i'd been at. Also the 2-0 at Spurs when we went top. And the 5-1 derby game.
-
Rotterdam
-
In my lifetime - The Norwich League Cup Quarter Final in 2012. I had a second interview for a job that I couldn't turn down. Living in Manchester at the time, I wouldn't have been able to do the interview and the match. I didn't get the job. I was told my managerial approach was too aggressive. Probably down to the fact I had to miss the match. I kind of made up for it the following Saturday seeing us win 3-1 at Anfield. But I was devastated to miss the rout at Carrow Road. Especially having been at Man City and Swindon for the other rounds.

As a slight alternative, one game I was at but wished I had been sober enough to remember any of it was the game where we won the league in '81. Unfortunately I was only 16 and we had managed to get hold of alcohol and so I spent most of the game either doing nodding dog impressions on a crush barrier or thinking I was going to be sick.
I'm sure it was a great day though.
-
The game of all time under the age of 60 I think we all wished we were at 1957 which remains the holy grail in my head - just the once please villa in my lifetime

The one upside to my darkest drinking days are that they coincided with the McLeish and Lambert years!
-
The 1977 league cup semi-final replay v QPR at Highbury. I'd already had three Wednesday afternoons off school in order to attend the (twice postponed) away game at Loftus Road, so the replay was one too far. Still got to all three of the finals, mind.

This. With brass knobs on.

I wasn't at it, but I saw it.

I was fortunate to be there that night. Sir Brian did us proud with a stunning hat-trick!

Rotterdam
Holtes last stand
A Victorian cup final
-
Wolves away 3 2 and 2 1
Small Heath away when we beat them 1 0 (Phillips)
Stoke away 3 1
Reading away 4 2
Slavia Prague away - I'd love to see Villa win in europe
