Excellent. Fair play to Cardiff for making the effort to get us extra seats in.

Worth mentioning that Cardiff is the best ground I've ever been to for getting served, the bars were large and there seemed to be more staff than fans.

Am going to combine this with a trip to the Doctor Who Experience.

(Not sad).

It was certainly the highlight of last season's visit for me. That and the refund I got from the rail company on account of excessive bantz on the way back.

From what was an extremely dodgy gaff  to a great city to visit - I personally like the bars by the Millennium Stadium but the City Centre matches anywhere else now in the UK.

I didn't know that the Doctor Who thing was still there. I thought that it was temporary.

Therefore, I might pop along as well.

They do have a special display dedicated to Nicola Bryant, don't they ?

I dunno. I do know the Experience is closing soon so will be last time you could visit in conjunction with a Villa match.

Great allocation. Easy for me to get to. Hopefully better performance and result than last year.

I don't get the whole Doctor Who thing! Incidentally, the new writer of Doctor Who (the writer for Broadchurch) is from Bridport where I live and I coach his lad in my U14 footy team.

Cardiff are selling their home tickets now, interestingly they're not selling tickets in blocks 123, 124 and 125. That's where our extended allocation would be which would suggest we've taken the full 5000.

That's the sales at close of play on Friday.

Sales do appear slow and if that figure hasn't moved on by the end of today now its at plus 5, then it wont sell out I wouldn't have thought. Reading the same.

I just think the whole system at the moment makes it really difficult to buy tickets. We are away scheme members but as of yet we have no season tickets.

I called as I understand there is a delay but my 2 junior 16yr olds tickets have not arrived yet also and I was unsure if  that was included in the mailing for the tickets gone last week. I have called and they are saying at least 20 minute wait on the phone. I cannot access online via the new ticketing system so all in all they are not making easy for people to buy tickets.

The message says call again friday if season tickets have not arrived. I imagine a fair few might not get there or some issue with renewals etc. Some will not get to check if they are at work so that leaves Sat AM to sort before the game, it is awful organization

Surely our away support hasn't dropped off after just one season down here? Leeds have been down here for years yet sold out 4800 for Bolton away in 15 minutes.

I haven't tried today. Tried to phone them three times last week and gave up.

They could at least reintroduce the feature that tells you what number you are in the queue. That was a useful feature. I'll phone them and tell them to bring it ba... oh.

Managed to finally get 2 tickets for Reading, but only after being on hold for 35 minutes. Mentioned my difficulties and many others in getting tickets online and the fella was totally oblivious to it.

No wonder the away sales are low if the only way you can buy a ticket is a 30 minute plus phone call.
Title: Re: Cardiff City (A)

You're the only person to buy tickets since Friday according to Twitter so they're perhaps not as so slow sales wise as advertised.

That said if people are struggling to call and have only just got their season tickets today then it's likely sales would pick up.

The new online seat selector has 7 out of 10 blocks sold out and 11, 560 and 890 left respectively. So 3400 sold. Quite handy that it let's you choose your seat. Pity we can't do that in the away scheme.

I think picking your own away seat is a really good concept. The problem I had was I could only buy my own ticket...i couldn't  assign anymore tickets and I couldn't even get one with my daughter's reference and are accounts are linked together.

According to AVFC support on Twitter there's over 1000 left for Cardiff and we may not sell out any of our first 3 away games.

Must admit that is slightly surprising, especially with Cardiff being first away game, Saturday 3pm, not on TV and reasonably priced. Last year we easily sold out Sheff Wed away despite it being £42, live on tv and 4.30 Sunday afternoon.

Whatever the reason, there does appear a drop off in demand so far this season.

Whatever the reason, there does appear a drop off in demand so far this season.

They're Friday's figures. On Friday we'd sold 3700, we've subsequently sold virtually another block and 400 odd in the process.

This year the Twitter account appears to only update on a Monday and with the end of the previous weeks figures.

I was sad enough to write down how many we'd sold over the weekend and recorded the Cardiff sales as 3762, which I would have done mid-afternoon, only because I was intrigued as to whether my theory that we shift more over a game weekend is true. Today we've sold 4144 total, having moved the last 100 from a block and having moved 100 odd from another.

Reading sold out and R27b appears to be an additional allocation of seats to the right of the away end under the screen.

161 seats were returned from the away scheme for Reading [which is why 161 of the central block seats came back on sale randomly]

Title: Re: Cardiff City (A)
Post by: Ads on August 07, 2017, 04:29:22 PM
Roughly 650 for Cardiff and 200 for Reading.

In respect of Reading, its only a hunch that its extra tickets, as the shape of the block R27b is an inverted V which is the area that, if memory serves, straddles the away end and a bit of the home end under the screen.

Last year the allocation was 4100, this year its 3900. I presume due to our last visits involving pitch incursions, it would means some rows at the front have been tarped off.

If it doesn't arrive, I have to call the TO Friday afternoon to be put on a duplicate list for collection at the ground

One for the ticket saddos, that means you Quinton.

I'll confess I am confused by this.

I suspected that a possible error in my own calculations is that not all blocks are sold at once. Block 9 has been selling for some time and there are circa 350 left, so I assumed that block 10 contained perhaps the remaining 500. However, there a single return ticket in that block and with all others having been sold,  it would seem that 4400ish have been sold, rather than 4000.

Either way, it is worth remembering that before anybody criticizes the away support again;

a) it hasn't dropped off, that's either 600 or 1000 more going to Cardiff this year compared to last
b) that's more than anybody has taken to Cardiff

The away support is a credit to the club. We cause no bother, take bucket loads and make a racket. Well done my brothers.

One for the ticket saddos, that means you Quinton.

I'll confess I am confused by this.

Agreed mate. I wasn't really criticising, I just thought we'd sell out the lot with it being the first away game. Although having Reading away 3 days later and another big allocation hasn't helped, and quite a few people are probably still on holiday.

Ticket for Sat has arrived.

Not sure why the TO told me yesterday that it hadn't been printed. It's a Cardiff issued ticket, so why / how would villa be printing them?

Thought that the Reading ticket might have been in the same envelope but it wasn't

If they haven't arrived by the time you're setting out, ring the ticket office. They'll arrange for you to pick up duplicates at the ground.

Somebody mentioned that the collection from Cardiff was very efficient, so hopefully not too much of a ballache if it doesn't arrive on time.

Given how long it takes the TO to answer the phone, I would suggest calling today rather than leaving it until tomorrow

4803 in the end. This for a team that has won 5 of the last 44 away games. Superb.
