I wasn't there, I wasn't into football, I was only five.... but this is great footage. Lovely long POV shots throughout from both the North Stand and the old Holte End. What a team.

I remember and went to this game (as a 10 year old), in a season where we won 17 out of 21 home games but were lousy on the road. Spurs were the better side for much of it with Jimmy Rimmer playing a blinder until we blew them out of the water. I recall the Holte End booing Ricky Villa whenever he had the ball because of the Falklands war earlier in the year and my dad saying how stupid the jeering was.

This game we were in Blackpool for and was the only game we missed all season. Bob Wilson who presented MOTD at the time and loathed us with a passion tersely summed it up as "By no means a fair reflection of the match" after it had been edited to show every shot, free kick throw-in and corner Spurs had and "Just" our four goals. My brother who was there said it was a travesty and totally biased towards Tottenham - who were very much the establishment blue-eyed boys of English football at the time.

I was there too, on The Holte. I would have been eleven.

We had a few great results against them when they came back up - this match, their first game back and a Christmas game at whl again bbc footage didn’t reflect how dominant we were think we won 3-1

My second ever game and the first time I saw us win was 1-0 against Spurs in 1979 or 1980. We won 1-0 with a Dennis Mortimer goal.

The concept of midfield protecting the defence was very different in those days wasn't it! I.e. don't bother. I remember thinking the same when I watched the England - Germany World Cup Semi final re-run a few years ago. Incredible how much quicker th game a nowadays

I always remember Osvaldo Ardilles and Ricky Villa making their home debuts against us. It was a party atmosphere for the spurs fans until we spoiled it by winning 4-1.

I think their proper debut was the week before away to Forest and the media made a massive deal of it. I think that same summer Small Heath bought Tarantino and Ipswich bought Muhren and Thijssen.

78 ticker tape game was the top game They as usual we’re dead cocky and had just won at forest the previous Saturday. Think we played wolves at villa park. Didn’t like spurs from the hassle we had there in the 5-2 defeat the season they went down

I think in the eighties the away end was only regularly filled by Liverpool, United, Small Heath and Smethwick. Possibly Arsenal and Wolves too on occasions.
