I thought I would be the first to begin Golf 2017.
News so far, R&A are proposing rule changes. Some of them for club golfers are, you can only spend 3 mins looking for your balls instead of 5, you will be able to putt out on the green with the flag in the new hole, there will be no penalty for moving loose impediments in a hazard and players will be able to ground their club everywhere except in the bunker, when having a free/penalty drop you can drop the ball one inch from the ground rather than from shoulder height and there is no penalty if you accidentally move your ball.
Other news Tiger has still not completed 4 rounds of golf in competitive plan and Rory has played a round with President Trump.
Finally one more rule I didn't tell you about is you can now only clean your balls once during a round!

"Lexi Thompson's major bid ruined after four-stroke penalty reported by TV viewer"

By all means have an onsite TV umpire/referee to review reports from players/on-course officials but reports from the public should not be acted upon

Agreed. And your mates Kornheiser and Wilbon made the very good point yesterday that the only reason this was even spotted by a TV viewer was because she was the focus of the cameras all weekend because of who she is. 99% of the other players didn't get nearly the air time she did.

Masters week!
Spieth is my main bet along with Lefty. A couple of quid on Bill Haas and Gary Woodland.
-
Put and each way bet on Justin Rose.
-
7 Brits in the top 20, including local boy Andy Sullivan, not bad, at end of round 1.
-
Moving day. Plenty are still in this.
-
Would love to see Garcia win this. He has never won a major.
I love his spirit, especialy in the Ryder Cup.
-
Rose is making a move.
-
Anyone at -2 or less is still got a shout; I'm still unconvinced that Garcia has got the minerals to finish the job.
Rose on the other hand is very levelheaded and calm...Spieth ominous.
-
Final round should be great, love Justin to win, but I reckon Spieth will be the champion.
-
Spieth is blowing it, Ricky Fowler looking ominous.

Ricky Fowler looking ominous.
Or maybe not!
-
I feel for Sergio.
-
I feel for Sergio.
Don't speak too soon, he's still in this.
-
This is fucking brilliant.
-
This is sport at it's very best.
-
This is fucking brilliant.
Isn't it just. Amazing viewing.
-
Come on Sergio.
-
I can't help wanting Sergio to win
-
Heard on the radio earlier that Rose will become the first European player to win both the a Masters and the US Open if he pulls this off.
-
Play off
-
I can't see how replaying the 18th can split them. Both and second shots were brilliant. Nerves?
-
Garcia looks a bit down going into the play off.
-
Fucking win it, Sergio! I need to go to sleep.
-
It's Garcias's to lose.
-
Great stuff. Well done, Sergio.
-
Great stuff!
-
Fantastic entertainment, sport at it's best. I never thought he would win a major, well done Sergio.
-
With all of the total bellends in the game, it is nice to see a chap like Sergio finally win a major.
And he's also the Chairman of a Third Division football club in Spain.
-
Garcia can fuck off. The stupid Spanish wanker. And this has nothing at all to do with the tenner I had on Rose at 27-1 a short while back....
-
Ian Poulter joint 5th, 3 behind the leaders going into the final round of the Players. Can Poults win the biggest tournament outside the majors at the age of 41. Afraid I can't see it, but you never know.
Commentators were saying Oosthuizen and Stanley have taken 4 hours 35 mins to complete their rounds, which is absolutely ridiculous for a 2 ball.
-
I'm worried about my brother, he's taken up golf again.
-
I've entered the ballot for tickets to the 2018 Masters. I've already looked at flight costs to Atlanta - wow. I don't expect we'll be lucky enough to get tickets but even if we were to, I don't think we could afford it!
-
Wolverhampton pro Aaron Rai birdies the first at the US Open. A member of Patshull Park apparently.
-
He qualified at Walton Heath (lovely old course by the way, and one Churchill, Lloyd George played at) and where Michael Campbell qualified before winning in 2005.
-
US Women's Open held this past weekend at Trump's US National Course in New Jersey.
The Final Leaderboard shows no Americans finishing in the top ten - oh the irony.
He probably slithered away well before the final round finished.
-
If the recent trend of 1st time winners in the major tournaments continues, I think Jon Rahm at 18/1 is a good bet and Rory to miss the cut another good bet.
-
I'm on Fleetwood. More bets to follow, along with grim weather.
-
...also e/w on Rickie, Kuchar and Adam Scott.
-
Skybet paying ten places. Have gone with Dufner at stupid odds (125-1). I know nothing about golf but I'm sure he's won a Major before, so thought he might be worth a gamble.
-
Yeah he won the PGA in 2013. Looking at the betting I notice Danny Willett, last years Masters champion, is 250-1. Blimey how the mighty have fallen.
-
I considered him, but when I Googled him it seems he's had some injury problems lately. Probably one to avoid (no doubt he will win it, now I've said that).
-
Willett has been garbage recently, and split from his mate and caddie. Avoid.
-
The famous Alfie Plant is currently second on the leaderboard behind Poulter.

I like Poulter. Although my interest is minimal at the moment as I haven't put a bet on anyone.
-
Mark O'Meara with an 8 at the first and an 81 overall. Ouchy.
-
Love Poulter to win it, but unfortunately don't think it's going to happen.
-
Speiths birdie at 18 and Kuchars miss may have ruined today. Unless we see a meltdown JS will waltz it.
-
Nearly the meltdown I needed, but JS was brilliant in the last four holes.
Tough on Kuch and my betting account.
-
Good news for those without Sky the Beeb have the rights to the PGA. It's on the BBC red button now and at 11.15 on BBC2.
-
Well done to Justin Rose, getting his well deserved MBE today, the best English golfer since Faldo.
-
Didn't he used to support Villa and then switch to Chelsea? I've always thought he's a twat since hearing that somewhere.

I though he switched from Villa to Tottenham, which admittedly doesn't make it any better.
I always reserve a certain amount of football fan contempt for people who switch clubs, Nasser Hussain (Leeds to Arsenal) who I actually like on Cricket coverage and Zoe Ball (Liverpool to Man Utd in 1993 surprisingly!!) are two particularly outrageous cases.

I believe he's also a Clyde fan, which makes him a glory hunter on both sides of the border!

I don't follow golf but my folks and brother love it, the year he played at Birkdale in the Open (as an amateur I think) and was up with the leaders his caddy (an old school friend of my brother) stayed at my folks house in Ainsdale, my dad was in his element as he got to have a swing of a couple of his clubs in the back garden.
On another note, my brother hadn't swung a golf club in anger for over 10 years until a couple of months ago, last week he played a round to four over par, think it's coming back to him.
-
Justin Rose is Roy Hodgson 40 years ago.

It's a great game, unfortunately have not played for 10 years, due to having 2 crap knees.
-
Well done to Tommy Fleetwood beating Justin Rose, who collapsed today on his back 9, to the Race to Dubai title.
Along with Fleetwood and Rose, Englishmen Tyrell Hatton and Ross Fisher also in the top 10 in the Race to Dubai final standings.
-
Good to see Tiger Woods back playing competitive golf again, after all his back problems. He finished joint 9th with a final score of 8 under par in an 18 man field, in the Bahamas.
-
Well done Tommy Fleetwood winning the Abu Dhabi championship, carrying on his good form from last season.
-
Considering this is the first time he's has been fully fit in 2 years, not a bad return to competitive golf for Tiger, finishing 23rd on 3 under par. Providing he stays reasonably injury free, it will be interesting to see if he can get to the level, where he is once again competing to win the Majors.
-
Tiger is ticking along nicely at the Valspar. Leading by one with 2 holes to go in the second round. He’s looking very solid and made a brilliant par save just now to keep the lead.
-
Finished with a bogey to share the lead at -4
-
A small part of me is glad Tiger is back. Big Phil winning last week was good too.
-
Tiger finishes tied 2nd, some performance, gotta be in contention for the Masters. But the good news for British golf, Paul Casey wins his first tournament in America for 9 years finishing with a superb 65.
-
Good news in a Ryder Cup year too. (Casey that is).
-
Re Arnold's tournament, Tiger can't win, Rory leading with 3 to play.
-
Rory on fire last few holes. Hope he takes this form into Masters
