Birthdays all come at once looks like he has a clean slate!  Surely last chance saloon.  I think he would stretch defences of he were to play at this level easily competitive but just attitude.  Give him till Xmas to be part of this and move on if had my improved

You have to feel sorry for him, even the manager looks more streamlined.

After his behaviour last season the old regime should have sacked him.  He's a stain on the club with his behaviour.  Bruce giving him a chance is all well and good but he's miles of the standard of our other forwards including RHM.

So he has been given a clean slate. They cannot afford to pay him off because of the cost involved  and they don't have a water tight case to sack him.

Basically he is untouchable.

Disappointing news as I for one hope he never represents us again, however he is still likely to be far down the pecking order before we even get onto his (lack of) fitness levels.

looking at the way he (appears to be) with his kids and family, I think he is probably a decent guy and would hope that the last 12months have given him time to reflect on what he has done. sometimes, a poor upbringing and being surrounded by the wrong people can lead down the wrong path especially when coupled with a lifestyle and riches beyond your wildest dreams, I think Gabby is the product of that perfect storm.

Probably does'nt deserve a chance at redemption but I would be interested to see if he took it - its one hell of a road back though and im not sure he has the talent let alone the desire anymore.

Happy Birthday anyway

Couldn't agree more. At a time when we needed everyone to work out of their skins to try and keep us up, our club captain being so overweight that he was literally unfit to play, coupled with the laughing gas and shisha pipe incidents were grounds to sack him and see him in court if he didn't like it. At our greatest time of need our supposedly Villa through and through striker disappeared and treated the club with utter disdain. Never want to see him in a Villa shirt again.

Says the man that would have Micah Richards in our team against Wolves. ;)

Fire that fucker into the sun. I'll be booing them if they play from the comfort of my living room.

Gabby can do one. Hepburn-Murphy would make more impact if we want to add another striker to the squad.

I think Bruce giving him another chance will further shine a light on a what a charlatan he is. It's a bit much to expect him to suddenly become a key contributor and he's got a pile of talent now ahead of him. So this is more an exercise to include everyone than it is to truly open the doors again and resurrect his career. I don't expect to see Gabby playing for us any time in the future.

I'm not sure that we need Gabby.  McCormack and Kodjia are better players and Ayew is capable of stepping in ahead of Gabby.  Not to mention Gestede.  I think we are ok up top, it's at the back and in the centre of midfield that we are weaker.

So all these weeks where it's been quiet regarding him, and he's STILL not match fit. £60,000 being trousered from the club each and every week. It's fucking scandalous.

Either we continually employ the worst fitness guys in the World or he's just a law unto himself.

IMO, we don't need him. On the pitch or around the squad.

Didn't he post a photo up the other week and looked as fit as a butcher's dog?

I'll leave it to Bruce as to whether or not we need him. We could certainly do with a bit of speed in attack, whether he's still got it is another question. More than speed we need service, something that's been missing for years to our strikers.

Must feel like two birthday's he is beyond lucky to be back training.  But I can understand why Bruce as the new manager doesn't want to rule anyone out of his plans.  As long as he makes it clear than Gabby is at the bottom of the packing order and has to prove himself then I guess I'm fine with it.  Considering the attacking talent we have I would be very surprised if he gets much of a look in.

Gabby is another red herring, shit substitution in the making though. Keep him out of the match day squad, he's finished, we have a young lad chomping at the bit who should be getting his seat on the bench not a washed up wanker like Gabby who has shown pretty much as much disrespect at you can to a club, he can't even be bothered to be fit to do his job.

I also remember Shearer focussing on Gabby's laziness on MOTD last season when we played Man City. Toure had the ball at his feet, Gabby was facing him 6 yards away, the nearest Villa player. What does Gabby do? Bends over and starts adjusting his shin pads, pretending Toure isn't there, rather than actually challenge him.

Add to this Gabby pretending to be injured / ill during the 0-6 at home to Liverpool, and taking an eternity to warm up at Swansea in Garde's last match to avoid having to come on, and it's fair to say I already hated him well before;

Being too fat to play, shisha pipes in Dubai when we needed him, laughing gas the night we got relegated.

Just fuck off Gabby you fucking wanker.

Quite simply he's won and this club will never move on in the way we hope until he finally vacates the premises in two years time.

It's late October and still not fit? He should be told to clear his locker and not come back. Even if we have to keep paying him. Even if it's what he wants. It can't be doing anyone at the club any good having him around, particularly the kids.
Given his lack of moral fibre and character it might be entertaining to see his weight balloon and life implode....we could even have a "gabby watch" thread.
