To be appointed as Technical Director in September.
Interesting choice.
-
Hopefully not a square peg in a round hole.

Wasn't Remi after him last year? I am sure he turned it down then.

Yes I think so. But Wyness has worked with him before and he comes with a very good reputation for development.
-
I'm coming round to the idea.
-
I totally misunderstood the thread. I thought Grant Holt was rejoining us and we had come up with a funny nickname for him.
-
This certainly closes a loop that has been open for quite a while.

It's certainly shaping up to be an interesting season.
-
He's set to ring the changes.
-
We need to stop going round in circles.
If I'm honest I'm not even proud of that one.
-
no more square pegs in round holes with this acquisition ;D
-
Hopefully not a square peg in a round hole.
sorry did not see this , embarrassed now :-\
-
I like this appointment. Hopefully his influence will see us passing in nice triangles and running rings around the opposition. It will so much happier in the pubs after games. The rounds will be flowing.

Is The Square Peg pub still in town? How great would it be to bump into Steve Round in The Square Peg?
-
the square peg is shit

If I see you both in there, I'll buy you a round.
Edit: didn't spot your previous post TV!

What does a Technical Director do?
-
And has he performed the role anywhere before?
-
I'm undecided on this appointment.
Firstly, I don't know who Steve Round is.
Secondly, I don't know what a Technical Director is.
-
I Cant see anything wrong with giving Round a transfer Window or two as long as he brings in players that don't (H)amble around the pitch
-
I wonder if this means Riley has gone or has opted to take a lesser role under Round.

Didn't Remi want him as his assistant, before we ended up with McCuntibollocks himself.
-
Welcome to the circle of strife, Steve.
-
He was assistant manager under Moyes. Like others, I'm not sure what the role of Technical Director will entail - hopefully we'll get more of a picture over the coming days
-
He was offered a lesser role under Garde and turned it down. He knows the game well and whilst this is a bit of a gamble as he hasn't performed this role before, I think he'll do a good job. No evidence at all to say so, but he has been around at the top of the game and is a very good coach.

Hmm. I can see why you're having trouble.

I think I have a handle on it.
Steve Round is a pal of David Moyes and the job will entail directing people on football related stuff.

Right thread - he ate all the Pi's

Yes you could say he's rounded up after round down.

Oh, and you have to say that's magnificent.

Can't see the angle taking with round its pointless
-
We seem to have gone round the houses with this one ;D Seriously though it's taken a while to decide on one, don't really know what his job will entail but remember him working under Moyes as an Assistant at Everton and Manyoo so not a bad CV in that respect.
-
Has made Ian Atkins Chief Scout
-
Atkins worked as a scout at Sunderland too when Bruce was there......
-
Steve Round - previously assistant manager to Moyes, an old school manager with old school thinking.
and now Steve Round - our technical director, involved in shaping the footballing side of our club, and involved in deciding who our next manager is.
what qualifies him to be operating at such a lofty level now? Is he really the right man for the job? Seemingly we are going for an old school manager with old school thinking, so with Round involved in the decision, that's no real surprise
Is he really in the right position now or has he been promoted above his capabilities? I know what I suspect but may be proved wrong, hopefully I will be
-
Ian Atkins not too highly thought of by Everton fans on the web, could be sour grapes. They point to his remit being a certain area of Europe of which they've bought one player from the last 4 years and he was crap.

Bet he's crap at corners!

They're probably saying he never would have found Idrissa Gana Gueye and that yes please we'll have Paddy Reilly if he advised on signings like that but then reject him when they discover he used to be in the employ of the Redshite across Stanley Park. The ficklest of the fickle them Bluenoses.
-
Thought this was another dig at our now slimline, soon to be appointed manager.
-
Ian Atkins looks like another "let's bring in another mate from a previous club". Seems Everton had already got his replacement, so perhaps a call from Villa was very fortunate

always good to be positive

I can see both sides there but let's at least see the expectedness of such people coming in and that they know how they work. It quite commonplace to bring the ones they know. Wonder what will happen to Mr names Kevin bond in the mix up. If Phil Neville is coming in to that's another Everton link

Nah, just a dig at the bloke who got a job off his old boss and is now employing all his old mates.
-
Could be worse imagine Jonna from Salford city and he class of 92
