Title: Games moved for TV
Post by: villabear on August 10, 2016, 05:01:09 PM
3 games moved for TV.

From official site:

Three games have been selected for Sky Sports TV coverage in October and November.

Our match at home to Wolves on Saturday October 15 will move from 3pm to 5.30pm.

Our game away at Birmingham City on Sunday October 30 won’t move from 12noon but it has been selected for Sky Sports coverage too.

We will face our first Friday night match on November 18, when we travel to Brighton for a 7.45pm kick-off, after it moved from Saturday November 19.

Mods feel free to move if necessary.

I quite fancied Brighton away but not on a Friday. I know there has been little aggro when playing Wolves but that late on a Saturday night seems like asking for it.

Small Heath was always gonna be on telly and Wolves isn't too much of an inconvenience seeing as it's down the road. Brighton on a Friday is a pain though. Only got 2.5 days leave left for the year.

Once again TV shows total disregard for the fans.  We're treated like tv extras....except we've paid for the privilege.

If you want to buy Sky to watch these matches, the Sports Bundle costs £47.50 a month and it currently comes with a free 32" LG TV or £100 reward.  I in shares house now so just divide our £60 a month between 3. Hmm I wonder what everyone else pays for sports?  So what do people pay?

It won't. Home games maybe but not our away support. It's near impossible for me to get away tickets (I don't have a season ticket anymore).

I'm not so sure.  Brighton on a Friday night sold out and we even sold an additional 500 that were given afterwards.  Our other away games on Sky have sold out.  Wolves will sell out regardless and Brentford will be a small allocation that will also sell out.

I think you underestimate the strength of our away support.

Having missed Preston, Barnsley & Blues, I've dropped down to the second priority level for aways. I've taken a flyer on booking hotels for QPR and Brentford but its a risk with low allocation venues

No Saturday 3pm away game between 1st October and 4th March. Over five months!

One of the things I didn't get in the "what won't you miss about the premier league" threads over the summer was posts saying at least we wouldn't get TV messing about with our games.

We've been on more than we would if we'd stayed up.

Newcastle away on a Monday is ridiculous....Sky could easily show it on the weekend as they don't cover the FA cup anymore.

Title: Re: Games moved for TV

The most annoying thing about the Newcastle game is not so much the distance on a weeknight, but if either of us (well, them) reach the 5th round of the cup our game won't be that weekend. How are you supposed to make plans, book days off work etc when you don't know if the game will definitely be on that day?
Title: Re: Games moved for TV
Post by: DeKuip on December 07, 2016, 12:33:15 AM
The League statement says that if either team are involved in the 5th round of the cup the Newcastle game will revert to Saturday 18 Feb and not on TV.
What a daft bloody statement - there'll be a cup game to play.

It also says... Sky Sports and the EFL have made a joint commitment to ensure clubs and supporters are given at least five weeks’ notice ahead of any matches selected for live television coverage.

The 4th rnd of the cup is only 3 weeks before the 5th (and replays 10/11 days before) so the only way we'll know for sure 5 weeks beforehand is if both teams gets knocked out in the 3rd rnd without going to replays. It seems to me they're bending the rules to ensure they get this fixture.

Yeah, I don't think I will have enough away games to be in with a chance - only have the three at the moment and will need at least 5.

Moved by 15 minutes!

Quote
Aston Villa’s match with Fulham in April has been selected for Sky Sports coverage, the Football League has confirmed.

The match at Craven Cottage on Easter Bank Holiday Monday has been switched to a 2:45pm kick-off rather than the originally scheduled 3pm.

Villa have been omitted from television selections throughout March as the Championship promotion race takes top billing.

But Villa’s huge audiences have led Sky to come calling once again.

Just a quick question hopefully someone can answer, I've bought a couple of tickets for Wednesday at Home via the online ticket office and paid via Visa Debit. Do they now just post me the tickets as there was no indication of how I get my hands on them. I don't go very often now and when I do I just buy the tickets on the day at the ground.

Remaking tv games will be announced 5 weeks in advance, but I'd be surprised if they choose a mid-table midlands derby that has little national interest at the best of times.
It's FA Cup s/f weekend so Sky will be looking to compete with that by their choice. There's at least 3 more interesting Championship games that weekend too.
Whether it is or not though the stupid kick-off time won't change, unfortunately.

Doesn't confirmation email state what they'll do? It used to have delivery/collection info in the small print

It kind of suggested that they post them but didn't actually say it, I thought I'd better check as my previous dealings with the ticket office has left me thinking they're all a bit half soaked to say the least. I rang them and despite the usual performance in getting them to find the transaction they finally did and they do indeed post them unless you want to print yourself. I must admit at least they were a lot friendlier this time, which is a start.

Anybody else wondering if the game with the rags will be on tv ? - No mention of it yet ?

As per UK Redsox.
Looks like only games up to 17/4 have been announced
Remaking tv games will be announced 5 weeks in advance, but I'd be surprised if they choose a mid-table midlands derby that has little national interest at the best of times.
It's FA Cup s/f weekend so Sky will be looking to compete with that by their choice. There's at least 3 more interesting Championship games that weekend too.
Whether it is or not though the stupid kick-off time won't change, unfortunately.

i still reckon they will go for it on tv

I hope so, we are on holiday so fingers crossed that it's shown

I shall be down at the caravan for that game so can now watch it in the pub.

Just what I was thinking - watching Villa on the tv while relaxing at the seaside - does life get any better ?

I'd say it's highly unlikely as Sky are showing Leicester v Spurs at 12pm that day.

Good, there's a chance we won't lose if it's not on telly.

Only if Spurs lose at home to Millwall in the cup.

on the basis that the Fulham game on Bank holiday will be a sell out

you can still get seats in the neutral/mixed section end at £25

Just booked my "Neutral End" ticket - as a warning the Putney end is selling out fast with only tickets in the two block furthest from the Villa blocks left now.

Sky now showing Celtic v Rangers 2012 in the Cup while our game is on, not sure if they'd be tempted to show both at once.

Instead of 'Super Sunday', it could be 'Double Trouble'....

Championship TV fixtures are still only up to 17th Apr

However, Blues KO is already set, I can't see any reason for the game at Blackburn to be on TV and the Brighton KO is set

The Brighton game could be on TV if they haven't sealed automatic promotion by then

The derby match between Aston Villa and Birmingham City will not be broadcast on live television. The EFL has today announced the next set of fixtures to be broadcast by Sky Sports - and the clash at Villa Park on Sunday, April 23 is not one of them. Instead the broadcaster is focusing on the promotion race with Brighton’s trip to Norwich has been moved to Friday, April 21 and Newcastle’s home game with Preston rescheduled for Monday, April 24.
