Melvin was one of a kind.
irresistible, extravagant, outrageous, mad as a Hatter.
Coog, Jammy, Foxy, Dewar me, from schooldays to Steamers.

Melvins, story's are what Legends are made of, from his Loquacious expounding on all things, (He would have loved that) to his exploits following the Villa, Melvin will leave a big space.
I am trying to absorb it.

To our Leader, I salute you.

I only knew him for a relatively short while but remember him as a character who would never use one word when ten would do.
And he was always right; even when he was wrong.
Sad news, RIP

One of my idols growing  up - as a young 15 year old looking up to the likes of him Foxy, dewar and the Greek.

To me they were lads but first and foremost great Villa lads.    Think likes of Melv were out for the crack were not out and out loons.  I know a lot them had  good mates who supported other teams.

God Bless Melv xx

Oh they had some stories alright! I went to Northampton once when the Sock was the chairman. Gave me a couple of pairs of shorts and a bin if i recall correctly. I remember the old ground being a bit funny sharing with the cricket club when i had a kicked about on the pitch.

Nearly every time I went to the Villa someone had a new and funny story to tell about their exploits.

Excellent article. Very sorry for your loss but glad the club behaved so admirably to help with the bereavement process.
