Eighteen year-old goalie signed from Anderlecht.
Bienvenue (or the Dutch equivalent if you come from the Northern bit).
EDIT: he's actually Montenegrin, which I think might be a Villa first.
-
Welcome Matija.
-
Clearly one for the future.
He looks about 11.
-
years or months?
-
welcome son
How tall are you ?
lets be having some vegetables
-
You are a lucky boy Matija wearing the colours of one of the greatest football clubs in the world. Welcome. Watch out Brad.
-
I have underpants that look older than him.
-
shows that's Sherwoods in for the long haul,
-
I can just see him now, walking out onto the pitch at Villa Park for the first time.
Holding Micah Richards' hand.
-
at least he has conservative dress sense ; I welcome anyone not dressed in Jackson Pollack's smock or Frieda Kahlo's hand me downs
-

Poor sod , signed up for Villa than compared to a pair of pants :( :)
-
Twice
-
He looks wee bit like Tim.
-
So do this means he will be Brad Guzan's deputy or Mark Bunn is still no 2 goalkeeper
-
I think Grealish should be his mentor for a few months that should age him quickly enough and give him a trendier hair style.
-
a lot of people did want another keeper
-
A lot of people want a goal scorer too John...don't think we will get one now
-
Welcome Matija.
-

well Sherwood is 6ft 1, so they look about the same height give or take. But bloody hell makes me feel old looking at this kid.
-
He looks like he needs a bowl of soup the kid
-
Signing doesn't look good for Jed Steer's future with us
-

If he eats his Petit Filous his bones will get strongerer and he'll have a growth spurt.
-

I doubt he'll be anywhere near the first team for at least a couple of seasons.
-
Welcome Matija whoever you are.
-
On AVFC's Facebook page, there is much of the usual negativity following a Villa signing, followed by a post asking for a bit more positivity and saying it's no wonder our players look so nervous if they read some of this stuff.
The lad himself seems to have 'liked' that comment!
-
Anyone know the fee?
-
It's just as well Villa are allowed to sign players I've never heard of. The only ones I remember are the really crap ones, like Francis Benali and Peter Beagrie. I'm not sure those two are even alive
-
welcome son

is Sherwood 6ft 1 ? Bloody hell he doesnt look it . anyway this lad could still grow up until he is 21
-
needs to bulk up a bit; at the mo you sense he's got the profile of a racing snake

And longer. There's blokes in their fifties on here still haven't grown up.

Titter ye not, this made me laugh out load, very good!

And older still.

let's get down with the kid
eh?

Where will this leave the likes of Benjamin Seigrist - who seems to have been around forever yet never seemed to make the step up

Out with a long term injury I think. Didn't he break his leg ?

any advances on this ??

Yeah Kozak posted something about it and everyone panicked for a while that it was another break for Kozak. I hope Seigrist will get a chance when he's fit, I'm not convinced by Steer from what I've seen (I'll caveat this with the fact that he's still very young for a goalkeeper) so I think we should look at all the young keepers we have and see if any are able to step up. Think this signing is definitely one for a few years down the line which is great to see, that's Sherwood sticking to what he knows.
-
Made his international debut last night and kept a clean sheet as Montenegro beat Belarus.
Currently on loan at Livingston.
As a special reward, I've treated him to some accents in my initial post.
-
Looks like a good, positive 'keeper, if a bit on the small side.
-
When we were sponsored by Mita, the short arse players could always stand on a photocopier in the team photograph.

Most of the time back then the photocopiers could get a game.
-
First names on the teamsheet. Bit like the Davitt family for Barnstoneworth.
-
Team that lost 4-1 at home to Norwich included a midfield of Hodge, Mita Minolta.
-
He was in the BoxPark at Wembley in his full kit for the playoff final
-
So, according to BBC Sport, Livingston are "incredibly disappointed" at Sarkic being recalled by Villa?? Absolutely no recognition of our current plight with injuries....

I assume it was written into the deal that we could recall him.... so fair's fair really.
-
Probably in the same way that we would've been very dissapointed if Tammy was recalled by Chelsea last January. I wouldn't take it as a dig at us, more that he's doing a good job there and the're dissapointed to lose him.
-
He will always be welcome back at the Tony Macaroni stadium.
😂
-
Exactly, he's doing well for them and they wanted to keep him. We do seem to try and see something that isn't there quite often.
Livingston FC regrets to announce that goalkeeper, Matija Sarkic, has been recalled by parent club, Aston Villa.
Matty returns to Villa Park as regular first-choice goalkeeper, Tom Heaton, sustained an injury which resulted in him being stretchered off in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Burnley.
This is incredibly disappointing news for all at Livingston FC given the level of performance we’ve seen from Matty this season. He had managed to keep 7 clean sheets in 18 appearances for the Lions so far this campaign, including a blank in our 2-0 win over Champions, Celtic.
We wish Matty all the very best in the future and it goes without saying that he’ll always be welcome at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

They were hoping he'd put penne to paper on a new deal but Villa refusilid.
-
At least now he's closer to Spaghetti Junction.
-

Sounds like they’ve really blown a fusilli over losing him.
-
I wonder if his return means we're expecting another club to (pasta) shell out for Kalinic.
-
I was at the Celtic v Livingstone game in November, Celtic won 4-0. He wasn’t at fault for any goals, made a few decent saves & his kicking & distribution, was very good.
-
Let’s hope he’s stroganoff for us
