Watched some highlights of our 3-0 win over Sheffield United just now, memorable day. Patrick Berger scored a nice goal which actually reminded me he played for us for apparently 3 seasons.
I think he had a good run of form round that point as apparently he still was in our squad for 2007/08 even though I can't recall him being involved in any games that year? Same for 2005/06!
Which is the one for you that apparently played for us but you can't remember them.
-
Well this is hard to answer as if I can't remember them I've got nothing to post. ;)
-
You'll be doing very well to get a picture of Alan McLoughlin in a Villa kit.
Ireland legend, for the goal he scored against the North that secured World Cup qualification in 1993.
Came on as a sub for us v Luton in 1991 at home, during a nondescript loanspell, IIRC.
Brian McClair, Frank McAvennie, Hans Gilhous and Henrik Larson (the Dane, rather than the Swede) were also on our books after more prominent spells elsewhere.
-
A few players who would probably stump me in those Missing Men things, Agathe, Kinsella, fashanu, Sutton, Heath, Tiler, Calderwood to name a few. The likes of Dawkins and Jenas will join them in a few years.
-
I always remember Sutton for the deft header he scored v Everton but yeah we got him just before he was about to retire so suppose you can forget he played here.
-
That big lad who played for us in the early 80s, Peter something - was it White?
-
I was mostly out of the country (is my excuse), but Steve Foster and Paul Elliott.
-
Malcolm Allen (on loan in 1987)
Michael Boulding
Eirik Bakke
Dariusz Kubicki
-
How can you forget Kubicki...legend
-
On the worst Villa 11 thread, I'd forgotten Dawkins already.
Does it count if they didn't play for us, like Drobny (now deceased), that Italian bloke (Ferrari?) and Unsworth?
-
Nii Lamptey
-
I know Adrian Heath played for us, but can't remember anything about his Villa career.
Other obscure Villa careers:
David Hunt
Carl Tiler
Jonathan Bewers
Darryl Duffy
Paul Browne
Eirik Bakke
Stephen Cooke
Neil Cutler
Gilles De Bilde
Keith Fahey
Najwan Ghrayib
Tommy Jaszczun
John McGrath
Richard Walker
To be fair many of them were Villa graduates that were given a run out, but didn't make it with us.
-
Neil Cutler
I went to school with Neil before he went to Lilleshall. He was a really good lad.
-
Erik Bakke another good shout.
Djemba twins aswell.
-
Gary Shelton
-
Scott Murray.
-
Andrew Greaves.
-
Hassan Kachloul.
-
I'll always remember Richard Walker. I'd stuck a fiver on us to beat Watford 3-0 and the git scored late on to make it 4-0.
-
Tommy Craig
Steve Watson
-
David Hughes
-
Erik Bakke probably the best one here.
-
Nii Lamptey
He was a little gem, remember the five nil over Wigan in the League Cup and Jimmy Greave's communtary, good times!
-
David Platt...oh sorry, I read the thread title wrong.
-
Anybody mentioned Bosko Balaban yet?
-
Lee Butler
Alan McLoughlin
Frank MacAvennie
Wayne Routledge
-
Oyvind Leonhardsen
-
Are we allowed current Villa players? Enda Stevens.
-
I've forgotten all about Wotsisname, that left winger we used to have - or was he a right back? You know who I mean - played at the same time as Whosiwhat, I think.
-

I've already mentioned Andrew Greaves.
-
Jim Herriot
Evan Williams
Frank McAvennie
-
The ultimate test for this thread would be to make some names up and see if anyone notices.
-
Bryan Small
-
Bryan Small
He plays for the old stars regularly.

Bryan Small
He plays for the old stars regularly.
I went to see the Old Stars in Newton Abbot last year and he was the only one decent enough to turn up! It was a piss poor effort on their part.
-
George Best
-
Jim Herriot
Evan Williams
Frank McAvennie
I don't think I could ever forget Evan Williams, although I often used to try.
-
Joey Guðjónsson
-
Bryan Small
He plays for the old stars regularly.
I went to see the Old Stars in Newton Abbot last year and he was the only one decent enough to turn up! It was a piss poor effort on their part.
He's a good lad. I used to play on Sundays with his brother Paul, who was both the fastest and fittest player I've ever known.
-
Alun Evans.

Hassan Kachloul.
I wish I could forget him, he was bastard awful! Other than one sublime goal he had all the footballing talent of an arthritic goat!
Franz Carr...
-
Oh and what was the name of that french bloke we were after for ages and ages.. only to finally sign him and he was the most duck footed waddling crab of a man i've ever seen...... I've forgotten his name... which is of course what the thread is all about!
-
Matthieu Berson
-
R that's him... Le Canard de football!
-
Hookey you got to give everyone a go mate....
I remember as a very young lad listening to a BRMB report in which Roger Harding was describing Villa in a precarious situation during a game. I distinctly recalled him saying that Aggro was on for Villa. Imagine my dad pissing himself when I said that Villa had bought on Aggro.
Does that count?
-
Roger Harding. There's a name that is a blast from the past. As a kid I went to home games and listened to BRMB for match updates on away days. Tony Trethewally (I have no idea how close I am with the spelling) was another one.
-
Enda Stevens.
-
David Marshall
-
David Marshall
Do you mean Andy Marshall? I don't think he ever got on the pitch.
David Marshall's the Cardiff/Scotland keeper - I don't think he was ever with us.
-
Graham Fenton.
I remember he scored a penalty in the shoot-out against Tranmere and a goal against Sheffield United too at Bramall Lane. Went on loan to the Albion and never heard of agian.
-
Fenton actually went to Blackburn and scored a couple of goals that effectively killed off Newcastle's title challenge.
-
David Marshall
Do you mean Andy Marshall? I don't think he ever got on the pitch.
David Marshall's the Cardiff/Scotland keeper - I don't think he was ever with us.
Ah yes, that's it. I've seen Andy Marshall play for us (against Burton in a friendly). David Marshall was the forcefield around Cardiff's net that was impregnable.
-
The bloke who used to play in goal in the pyjamas who screwed up in the cup at Manure.
-
Gabor Kiraly.
-
Colin Calderwood
Giles de Bilde
Frank Mcavennie
-
Didier Six, until I just saw him making his debut for us against Manure on Youtube.
-
Nigel Callaghan
Paul Mortimer
Lee Butler
Mathieu Berson
Enda Stevens
-
One that I genuinely had forgotten had ever played for us was Kevin Phillips.
-
My latest was Robbie Keane

Allun Evans (the other one)
Jake Findlay (kids, think Andy Marshall)

Paul Small? Brilliant name.
-
Was thinking back through Lamberts signings the other day. The good, the bad. I completely forgot about KEA. I'm probably not the first and I definitely won't be the last.
-
Les Sealey
Mervyn Day
Noel Blake
Steve McMahon
-
Tommy Craig. I'll stop there as there's been so many in my lifetime I've forgotten that they played for us.
-
Tommy Craig. I'll stop there as there's been so many in my lifetime I've forgotten that they played for us.
Tommy Craig scored the best goal I've ever seen for us , 1-0 home v Bristol City
-
Garry Thompson.

Tommy Craig. I'll stop there as there's been so many in my lifetime I've forgotten that they played for us.
Tommy Craig scored the best goal I've ever seen for us , 1-0 home v Bristol City
Tommy Craig looked a really cracking buy for our midfield.Lots of skill, hard tackler, good engine. Unfortunately that was for Newcastle. For us he had a couple of good games and that was about it!
-
John Inglis. Even those of long standing support will do well to remember him. He was dreadful.
-
Garry Thompson.
Met him last year, works in some sort of sports insurance now.
-
John Inglis. Even those of long standing support will do well to remember him. He was dreadful.
I've posted this before, john Inglis was the worst player I've ever seen play for the Villa, bar none!

Remember him well - thought he was gonna be a Villa legend - short, stocky, no-nonsense, red-headed, tough fu**er.
He was okay, then left and played much better for somebody else.
-
On Tommy Craig, IIRC, he was A main target for us. I can't remember the manager, Tommy Doc? Craig took his time in deciding who would be the better choice us or Sheffield Wednesday. He opted for Wednesday where he didn't actually tear up any trees. His reason for going there? It was closer to Scotland!
-
Pretty sure Ron Saunders signed Tommy Craig .
-
Pretty sure Ron Saunders signed Tommy Craig .
Eventually maybe but I'm talking about our first interest in him when he was a youngster with Aberdeen, well before Ron's time.
-
I forgot Okore played for us until the other week, as did Lambert I think.
And Eric Bakke played for us. 13 times too!
-
Phil Bardsley
-
Watching some of the nostalgia on the big screen at half time yesterday, I'd forgotten all about Fernando Nelson.
-
Oscar Arce
-
Jermaine Jenas
Think he lasted about 25 mins of a home game against United.
had forgotten all about it until I saw him on TV Sunday.
-
Dean Spink, the window cleaner. Or did he? I'm not sure now.
-
I would like to mention them but I can't remember!
-
Frank Mcavennie. I think he even got an assist in a game I went to at VP.
-
oh yes Cant Control.
-
Oscar Arce
Didn't play in a first team match, although many think he did. Neither did his brother Hector who was the better player.
-
Barry Lynch
-
George Graham I actually saw him make his debut for Villa and i think he scored to . Graham Parker is another one i had forgotten all about to
-
Norman Ashe
-
Alan Thompson(though I was overjoyed at 16 years of age when we signed him. Went to his home debut when he missed a penalty against Boro, but smashed in a free kick later on in that game..had a disappointing career at Villa)
Steve Watson
Steve Stone
Mustapha Hadji
Marcus Allback(though he really did help keep us up in 2003)
Rob Edwards(saw him almost score a wonderful chipped effort against Chelsea during Taylor's second reign)
-
Barry Lynch
For some reason and, maybe this is only just me but, Barry Lynch seemed to me to be a particular favourite of Tommy Doc he continued to pick him. Lynch could best be described as a trier but should never have been anywhere near the first team, as bad as they were.
-
Barry Lynch

Chaps i think you may be getting confused with someone else here, Barry only played 3 times for us, his debut was in a game at Cardiff 0-3 Boxing day 1967 under Tommy Cummings then the following season under Docherty he played in the away game at Hull, last game of the season 0-1. Then his final game for us was an FA Cup 3rd replay at Charlton under Docherty shortly before he was sacked and replaced by Vic Crowe. At the time i had a special interest in Barry Lynch as he was a local to me coming from Northfield.
-
PGW, you are probably right I haven't checked, perhaps I'm confusing it with his appearances for the reserves, who, I spent a lot of time watching. He wasn't good enough for them either.
-
Fernando Nelson
-
Fernando Nelson
He played quite a few games for us I guess? Seem to recall he was decent on the ball. Was he a Gregory signing?
-
Brian Little signed him.
-
Brian Little signed him.
That's a quiz question I would have got wrong then. I associate Gary Charles as right back in His teams.
-
He was, if you remember though Charles had a really bad injury, at home to West Ham iirc.
-
Johnny Gavan is another player i had forgotten all about. He was the reserve goal keeper to Colin Withers in the mid 60s
-
Oscar Arce
Didn't play in a first team match, although many think he did. Neither did his brother Hector who was the better player.
No neither played, Oscar's Villa zenith was scoring in a 5-1 Central League defeat against Blackpool at Villa Park, a trademark free kick.
Hector was the better player, but they were both jettisonned when Tomy Doc arrived.
Oscar Arce played 7 reserve games and one ill-fated friendly against Bedford in which he was sent off for spitting at an opponent, who objected to him juggling the ball and kicked him up in the air!
-
I remember that fucking Bedford friendly. For me, that was as low as it ever got.
Forgot to add, I'm still angry about it.
-
Adrian Heath
-
Peter Schmeichael
-
Chris Herd
-

What was the score Dave?
-
2-0 to them if memory serves Pat. Absolutely diabolical we were.
-
2-0 to them if memory serves Pat. Absolutely diabolical we were.
I can confirm that Dave. Although I didnt go it would appear that Luis Fullone (Oscars real name quizzers!) came on just before half time (replaced Mick Wright) and objected to Bedford players tackling him which they did with gusto!. Got into a few arguments with the ref and the opposition but didn't get sent off. Bruv Hector replaced Dave Rudge towards the end
Last heard of training in Morrocco.
Dick Edwards played at right back in this match, Dave, and John Chambers at centre back!

That made me LOL although it took me a few seconds before it clicked. Which is embarrassing considering I was a DJ in the Canaries in the summer of 1994.

Oyvind Leonhardsen.
-
Oyvind Leonhardsen.
I remember him because he was actually a decent player but we bought him too late. He scored a cracker of a volley at home v Fulham late 2002 and a good goal away at W Ham that same season in a 2-2 draw(Enckelman's best game for us in my humble).

They did a program on his career while he was successful at Celtic, and there was no mention of us whatsoever.
-
Barry Lynch

Yeah, he played for Cross Castle United who were formed by the merger of Allens Cross and Castle Rovers and are now Northfield Town. His parents went to the same church as mine.
-
Gustavo Bartelt - arrived on-loan from Roma mid-season 99/00 I think. Might have made a cursory sub appearance. Things went sour when he turned-up for training wearing sunglasses much to Gregory's chagrin. He just didn't understand that it's common for Italians/Argo-Italians to wear shades no matter how shit the weather is be it Sorrento or Sutton Coldfield.

Jimmy Brown. Made his first team debut aged 15 around 1970.
-
At Bolton. We lost 2-1, Bruce Rioch scored a belter for us. I met Tommy Doc after the match, he'd dropped Charlie Aitken who, was sat near me in the main stand.
I was talking to a young lad prior to going into the ground, when I started to make my way in he told me and a couple of others who I didn't know, to hang on. He came back a couple of minutes later with complimentary tickets for us. It turned out he was a youth team player named Greg Fellows, went on to Manure after us, never made it. A really nice lad, happy to talk to us.
-
Jimmy Brown. Made his first team debut aged 15 around 1970.
Still lives in the area so I believe. I for one will never understand why Jimmy Brown never made it.

He played too much as a kid.

Didn't Steve froggatt say the same thing affected his career?

Paul Kerr

My mate always insisted on pronouncing his name in something like a scouse accent. Paul Kiiirrr. He claimed he had some family with that surname and that was the way to say it.

He played too much as a kid.
He was a kid in a mans body. Could tackle hard and pass well. A great pity he tailed off. Made over 80 first team appearances. Not a bad total.

It's incredible to think he could still have been playing in 1982.
-
Was there a centre back in the mid to late 90s called David Hughes??? who I think scored a header against Arsenal. He was a youngster who only played a couple of games. I might be getting the goal mixed up with that of Richard Walker though.
-
There was a centre half called David Hughes. I think he went to Shrewsbury. Richard Walker was a striker wasn't he?
-
That's the guy.
Richard Walker was the striker. He had big side burns.
-
Robert Pires
My lad and me still laugh when we think how slow he was. He literally couldn't move

Doc made him captain - at age 16 IIRC.
No pressure there then!
But he was a strong lad and about my age so I thought he was fu**in' brilliant!
-
Robert Pires
My lad and me still laugh when we think how slow he was. He literally couldn't move
My wife and her workmates had tickets through work for a home game against Blackburn and I tagged along. Her workmates were highly amused by my displays of frustration and exasperation towards Pires.
-
Pires' only good Villa games all came against Blackburn!
Somebody mentioned Bowery yesterday and I had completely forgotten about him.
-

Hughes looked a classy player when he broke through, a Hansen type of centre half (like that Czech lad was meant to be - Drobny?). Didn't Hughes play one of his few games against Liverpool and do quite well?
Anyone remember the midfielder Ray Walker? I thought he was going to be ace.
-
Was it BL that said he was the best player he'd ever seen, or something along those lines?
-
A player I thought had a good future in front of him, was a lad by the name of Frank Pimblett. Had a few games for us and looked fairly decent. He never progressed sadly and I never heard of him after.

I saw him in what I think was his debut game. He looked the real deal and, again I think, it was Chris Nicholl who said he looked the best prospect he had seen for a long long time. I'm sure he ended up playing in Ausstralia, I have no idea why he did not progress with us.

You are right both.
Frank Pimblett was a scouser who came through the youth team, I remember his debut at home I think it was against Middlesborough from memory, he ran the game from midfield and it still is the best debut I think I've ever seen. Very skilful playmaker type of player, he ended up being a bit of a legend in Australian Soccer. Hope this works....
-

Not sure about that, but He Who Walks On Water did say that at 15, Mark Walters was the best player he'd ever seen.

When I was a kid my mum saw a picture of Ray Walker and said how good looking she thought he was. It was a bit out of character for my mum and unnerved me slightly.
Did he score one good goal for us, possibly at VP against Arsenal in the Milk Cup quarter final?
Best remembered for his FA cup goal for Port Vale against Spurs. I think it was Tony Gubba commentating, "Oooh, Ray Walker"!

Ray Walker had quite a bit of skill. Had a good career mainly at Port Vale.

As did Dean Glover, via Boro I think. And I have just remembered it was him who got the Arsenal goal I was thinking of.

Yes. Very talented player and showed a lot of promise.
I used to read Private Eye at the time and there was a a snippet along the lines of:
Frank Pimblett and Bobby McDonald turned up for a training session at Aston Villa in a tired and emotional state. Pimblett pipes up "I am pleasantly pissed" and Ron Saunders replies "You can piss off then". End of Pimblett.

McDonald didn't last long under Saunders either.

My old boss had quite a roll call of football conquests, mainly picked up at Liberty's on the Hagley Road, including Tony Godden, Don Goodman and Rambo. HE (no, I'm joking), she also had a fling with Neale Cooper, who after a boozy barbeque at hers wet her bed with her in it with him at the time.
Just realised I got that wrong. The barbeque was at his, so at least it was his bed.

Thanks to the Villa Facebook page, I've just realised that I had forgotten Gavin McCann.

Not one that I forgot but I'd imagine a heck of a lot of fans would forget that Daveeeed ever played for us as he is so rightly associated with the loveable geordies and Spuds.
What does stick out for me with regards to him is one night gone there was an awful atmosphere in the Holte with what seemed like 50% of fans slating him and 50% sticking up for him. It seemed it was going to kick off all around us. I was in the slating him camp.

Who was that French midfielder - I think under O'Leary - who everyone thought was the reincarnation of Viera, mainly on account of we never saw him actually play so just filled in the blanks with our own fantasies? I think we wanted him to recreate some amazing partnership he'd had with the Djemba twins but he only managed about 10 games for us.

Vlacnav Drobny too. Think that was his first name.

Mattieu Berson
That was the one. No-one could work out why he wasn't played and, in the absence of any evidence, built him up into a world beater.
Ian Olney - from further above - was great. A lone striker who scored about 1 in 5 for us but left all those gaps for Platt to run into. A proper false number nine in that he rarely troubled the net but boy did he know how to drag defenders away. I reckon that's why Cascarino never worked. We didn't need a poacher we needed someone to open up spaces.
Anyway, back on topic and from the Berson school of missing midfielders, Joey Gudjonsson.

I saw Berson play one game for us, away at Middlesbrough, ran the game for us, quite superb, Boro didn't get close to him all game, I really thought we'd found a gem.

That's true. His goals to games ratio for Clyde led me to believe Villa had unearthed another Scottish gem. Sadly it was not to be.

That was like Scott Murray who we bought from Fraserburgh. Evening Mail headline read "Villa in record transfer swoop". It was a world record transfer fee - for a Highland League player - of £35K. Played for us four times although did well afterwards at Bristol City. Can't remember anything about him on the pitch, but that headline stays with me.

He played at right back in the first game of 1996/97 at Hillsborough and that's about all I remember.

We also paid the record transfer fee for the Scottish Third Division to sign Neil Tarrant from Ross Country. £250,000 I believe.
He never played a first team game and went on the do a grand tour of northern non-league clubs.

That's what you get when you shop at Dingwall. Never any more than a place for knackered Caley Jags to stop off before reaching Brora.
I'd imagine we've set a few division records, what with our disastrous shopping trips in various European second divisions. We've long been a club incapable of spending big but astonishingly adept at over-paying for mediocrity.

He played the pass, while sitting on the floor, from which Tony Daley ran from his own half and squeezed the ball between the keeper and post against Luton later that season as well.

I remember going to Blackburn away during the last promotion season. Platt made his debut and scored as I remember in a 3-2 defeat. We'd signed platt and Williams the week before (was Williams from the Isle of Man or somewhere?). We couldn't hear the Tannoy properly and there was a debate throughout the match as to whether it was Platt or Williams on the pitch. Platt played up front I think instead of McInally.

Before my time, but we had the board game 'Team Tactics' and he was our highest valued player in it. We must have been relegated around about that time.
-
He played for us twice. Winger if I recall the first time round before joining NY Cosmos in the NASL. Joined us again as central midfield play maker in the 85-86 season and was one of the main reasons we escaped relegation that year.
-
It's weird. I remember Steve Hunt from when I was a kid and in my mind, I see him having been a good player for us for a while in his first spell then going off to the States. I'm just back from Wikipedia and in his first stretch apparently he only actually played for us 7 times.
Is that right? My memory must be playing tricks on me.

Bumped in Michael Bradley in Vancouver one afternoon when he was on a walkabout downtown when here with Toronto FC. I looked at him, he looked at me, I could't figure out who he was, he was wondering why I was staring at him, he walked off and I did the same. Quite a memorable encounter obviously

Hanging around Portman Road after SGT's first game as manager with a couple of my mates (Nev being one of them), Neale Cooper appeared to have downed a couple of quick after match refreshments before getting on the coach. Years later my manager at work told me she had gone out with him for a while and after staying the night with him after a barbecue at his place he wet the bet and pissed all over her. Neale Cooper that is, not Nev just to clarify.

My memory of Gary Shelton, quite possibly addled by nearly 40 years of distance now, is listening to a Villa v Arsenal game on R2 MW (Radio 5 Live's dad, kids). From what I recall of the commentary, Arsenal were all over us in the first half and led 1-0. We came back a bit in the second to win 5-1. Gary was amongst the goals.
-
He was actually quite good for a stand in player. (Gary Shelton)
The one player you never hear people mention from the same era was Gordon Smith - who to my mind was very average.

The pre season before Mark Blake made his debut I went to Villa park to buy my season ticket. I had a ten year old Porsche 924 with a private reg. A group of young lads stopped their kickabout in the North Stand car park and asked me if I was a player. I told them I was Mark Blake and signed a couple of autographs for them (they had pens and paper at the ready). I would have love to have seen their faces when they saw the real Mark Blake play for us. No prizes for guessing the one thing that distinguishes me from Mark Blake.

However his Villa career is judged, I think four goals on his debut disqualifies Stainrod from this thread. He was also involved in one of the most memorable Villa Park goals for me. I can't be bothered trawling back over twenty pages but surely Malcolm Allen and Alan Mcloughlin have been mentioned. It might even have been me who mentioned them. Having been at Witney Town in pre season 1991 and Highfield Road for the ZDS cup game a few months later my claims to fame are saying I have seen Ivo Stas play for us and score at Witney and Alan Mcloughlin play in a Villa shirt at Coventry. Along with seeing George Best in a Villa shirt at Villa Park. A lesser claim to fame is seeing Doug Ellis in a brief cameo playing appearance in a Villa shirt at Villa Park. Sadly he didn't execute his famous bicycle kick on that occasion.

Was that the game we won 2-0 with Charlie Aitken getting a headed goal down the Witton end? If so I was there only that day sitting in the Witton Lane stand instead of behind the Witton End goal.
Manure won the league that year and we got promoted in second place and if it is that year, such was our form coming to the end of that season I am convinced that had there been a few more weeks left, we would have overhauled Utd and gone up as champions. That was a cracking second division side we had then.

Indeed! I dont remember the goals 'cos my little 9-year-old frame was watching from the Holte end. I do remember walking back to our car parked in Electric Avenue and seeing a knuckle-dragging Yanited fan run down the railway embankment by the bridge and stage-dive into a crowd of fans who promptly parted and allowed him to continue falling until he face-planted the pavement. There was much merriment as I recall.

good job i didn't mention Neil Rioch or Eric Bakke then ... or the scorn would have been too much to take ... :-)
Bakke - good shout!
Someone mentioned Joe Cole the other day...
-
Has Mark Lillis been mentioned?
-
Richard Walker.
-
Saw Ivo "play" in a youth/friendly game at Shrewsbury Tech. He lasted about 20 mins. Grabbed his hamstring, made the substitute me rolling arms signal and walked off.
One I can never forget played for us.

Didn’t he score the winner against the Blues at Villa Park around 1970?
-
The two German players we had towards the middle of the 90's. I think they both had surnames beginning with 'B'. I'm too lazy to check Google.
-
Beinlich and Breitkreutz. Beinlich went on to have a decent career I think, might even have got a few caps.

Beinlich & Breitzkutz
They stick in my mind because I went Villa Park on a non matchday for a reason that escapes me and bumped into them outside the old club shop.
They were very friendly and happy to sign autographs.
One of them went on to be more successful than the other, winning the Bubdesliga IIRC.
-
Breitkrutz and Beinlich. The latter played for his national side.
-
Cheers guys! You're far more interesting than Google!
-
Can anyone remember the useless goalkeeper who wore baggy grey tracksuit bottoms. I think he came from a London club and was easten European. Probably performed in the 90's.
-
Do you mean Gabor Kiraly? We had him on loan for a while, possibly under MON. Didn't he let one in through his legs at Old Trafford in the cup?
-
Yeah definitely Kiraly. Hungarian and think we got him from Palace, possibly on emergency loan.
We were beating Manure in the FA Cup and he let a goal go straight through him late on. We lost the replay shockingly.
That was when we seemed to draw Manure in the Cup every season.

It was an emergency loan as both Sorensen and Taylor were crocked, he actually did ok apart from that one howler. We were losing, Baros equalised and then Kiraly let a soft one in. Which at least saved us from losing the replay at VP.
-
How did Taylor get injured, picking up his paypacket?
-
Both had knees injuries iirc. Sorensen did his, Taylor played a few games and then did his as well, his body probably wasn't used to stress and strain the body takes from actually playing a few games.

Yep, in injury time (or very close to it).
I was there for that - couldn't believe it.

From the Bruce era alone de latt, Hepburn Murphy, Davies, the eyptian goalie and onomah
-
...and, of course, any of the current U-23 lads!!
-
This thread is self-defeating. If you mention a player, you haven't forgotten him so you shouldn't have mentioned him on this thread. QED.
But, anyway... Brett Holman.
-
Just seen a Facebook post showing Grealish coming on as a sub for Ryan Bertrand. Genuinely couldn't remember him playing for us. 16 appearances on loan in 2014 apparently.
-
Ryan Bertrand was pretty good for us. There was a fair clamour to sign him up.
-
A recent one would be Onomah. Best forgotten.
-
Onomah was a good player, ill-used by a mediocre manager.
-
Lad at work mentioned the Portuguese GK who played for us twice. I had no recollection of him until saying about the penalty save against Yeovil. Something like Andre Morreira. He was rubbish.
