Typical poor journalism of the Mail - headline states "Ex-Birchfield Harrier" - when she is a life member of the club. All Birchfield Olympians gain automatic life membership - others get it for long service.

Wonder how difficult it will be as the celebrity questions tend to be a little simpler and seeing that there is a long history to go through and could be some real tough ones in there for anyone but the most avid of club historians.  Maybe it will be from a certain period?  Got to have the question about Chris Nicholl's "achievement" in there surely!

The period covered is from 1980 to 1990. Nicholl's four-goal extravaganza happened in 1976 so won't be featured.

Didn't know the points behind Liverpool, and couldn't get Oxford United out of my mouth in time-I even went to the away game for that-2 wrong then.
Having said that it's a lot easier sat at home rather then doing it in person on a prime time show-she did well and I think she knew the Barcelona Super Cup even though she said Bayern.

I got just 1 wrong, I said we finished 10 points behind Liverpool in 1989/90 and the answer was 9.

Can't believe she got the Blues question wrong regarding the many goals we put past them in 1988.

I got them all right though they were pretty easy to be honest. It retained my kudos in front of the family though I think to be honest they were more amazed to find out we had ever won anything or beaten teams like Barcelona

I got the Birmingham City league cup question wrong and forgot it was Besiktas in the European Cup. I dunno how I got the Blues question wrong, I went for Ipswich cos I remembered Platty scoring 4 or so vs them in that competition at one time.
Title: Re: Celebrity Mastermind
Post by: ez on January 01, 2014, 11:15:34 AM
I remember that blues game. We had Ormondroyd doing near post flick ons from corner kicks and blues had someone about 2 foot shorter to mark him. 2 or 3 of the goals were scored that way.
Title: Re: Celebrity Mastermind
Post by: Rich6by7 on January 01, 2014, 12:44:43 PM
I got more than Katharine Merry did on the Villa questions, not bad considering I've only been a fan since 1993. I only got two less than Josh Widdicombe on the Blur questions, and I got the same amount of Black Books questions right as the contestant for that. I was hopeless on the Russel Wallace questions, but then again Nick Baker didn't do much better. I think they set easier questions for the celebrity editions, though, and does anyone know how much the nominated charities gain from their patrons' performances? Do they get a sum per point, or is there a set donation to the winner's charity and a smaller one for the other three?

Just watched this back on the Iplayer and got 10 correct answers. I'd said Valur instead of Besiktas when I really should've known better. Also got the runner-up to the scousers by how many points question wrong.

I watched it on Iplayer and only got the Liverpool one wrong.

The period that the questions covered relate to a time when the Villa was the single most important thing in my life. If the questions were to cover the last 10 years then I reckon I'd only get half right.
