Title: The row between Everton and Villa fans today...
Post by: The Villa Werewolf on April 02, 2011, 08:57:46 PM
Just got back.

Fucking hell, I forgot what a bunch of fucking precious pricks scousers are.

That group of Everton fans who got so massively wound-up by the Villa fans all through the second half was one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen in 20 years of following the Villa. Granted, I was in the upper tier so couldn't see what the Villa fans had done to upset them so much, but I can't imagine what caused them to lose their temper to such a degree.

Particularly amusing was the bald chap who kept pushing his crying child to the fore as if to say "LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!", completely oblivious to the fact that the boy was probably more upset by his dad being an over-aggressive reactionary fucktard rather than by anything emanating  from the visitors' enclosure.

After the game, a couple in their 50s were walking past me and, having noticed the Villa jacket I was sporting, the woman turned to her husband and said - in a manner suggesting she wanted me to hear - "I really, really hope these go down, they're VILE". I smiled politely and joked "Ah, come on, we're not that bad!". She sneered in response, obviously disappointed that her barbed comment had been met with good humour and choosing instead to remain in the safety net of her victim mentality rather than electing to continue the exchange.

Humourless twats.

I think a Villa fan had thrown a coin. Whether they had is anybodys guess.

Everton fans are a moaning bunch of racist twats.

I can probably shed some light on this for you mate. The bald bloke you speak of with the child, was he wearing glasses behind the goal? Me and my mates were in the lower tier and just had normal banter with them. Nothing out of the ordinary or disrespectful, just what football fans do. Then said bloke decided to pick his lad up as if to say how dare you there are childs present. Which would be valid argument if only we had done something that kids shouldnt be subjected to. That then carried on for the entirety of the game with one of my mates being taken downstairs by her majestys finest for a swift telling off to their amusement thinking he was getting ejected, only to reappear to our amusement !!

Made it more sweeter when we went 2-1 oup mind!!.... on that note, a middle aged chap to my right seemed to have a minor heart attack at this point which we pointed out to the stewards who immediately ushered him to paramedics. To you sir I hope you are good and well.

The police responded by nicking any old people who took major exception to it and kicked off a little bit with wanker stewards and police. One guy had his hands held behind his back, when a police officer thought it would be big of him to hit him in the face with his cane.

They've always been vile racist scum up there.

Think so - sitting behind the... how shall I put this?... 'pleasantly plump' girl with the 'interesting' hairstyle?

Hilarious how he was taking the high ground one minute, then making "see you outside" gestures and giving a cut-throat signal the next.

He was a lot like Joe Jordan! Don't think I saw him looking at the pitch once during the whole game, far too pre-occupied with the Villa fans.

Everton fans are particularly self righteous and odious. It's a club that you would like to have some respect for but their fans just make you want to dislike them. It's always an unpleasant atmosphere at Goodison - not intimidating or violent like some grounds, just nasty and moany. I'm glad they've had a shit season too despite only having a few injuries.

Yep, I hear that they all like nothing more than making sweeping generalisations about groups of people based on what they perceive to be shared, but are actually little more than random, characteristics. Can't stand any of them, me.

Agree totally. Always comes across when you watch their games on TV or go to Goodison, they always seem to want to be perceived as being hard done by. Mind you, as scousers, it doesn't take much convincing...

My experiences up there are quite confusing - on one hand four of us wandering into one of "their" pubs and, after a few moments of tension, having a great couple of hours with like-minded fans to being ambushed after a match by twice our number and one mate receiving head injuries.

They do seem to have developed a dislike for us which does not seem warranted - maybe it is because we challenge for similar ground in the Premiership and have been relatively more successful recently?

And that accounts for 50% of their reportoire.

The other being the 'Everton, Everton, Everton' zzzzzzz.

And that's it isn't it.  At least ''If you know your history' doubled their selections when they stole it - I recall Celtic and Spurs singing it years ago.

Me and my 4 pals were on the very end seats next to the Everton fans and we all got manhandled out and given a few slaps by the stewards and police outside. They reckon they had us on camera giving "slit your throat sign" which was bollocks. This was just after the Everton fans were going mad about something. One of me mates has got to come back to court in the week.

It may have been your mate I saw being sat on, with his faced pressed into the concrete B36. I recognised hiom from Prague where you had the Castlebrom flag outside the St Geroge. I see him everywhere and know he's not a trouble maker. The racist Everton scum got out of their pram and the stewards and police, without ever actually seeing anything occur, just kicked off; hitting people with their canes, pushing people down stairs.

Yeah thats him mate. He didnt get let out till 10pm and he has to come back to court in the week. He had a few cuts to his face aswell. Luckily they didnt charge me and my other mates and just chucked us out after searching us for drugs and weapons. None of us done anything wrong but the stewards had there eye on us all game and were just waiting for any excuse. There was about 10-15 villa fans already outside who had been chucked out.

The Joe Jordan-a-like with the crying son was repeatedly giving 'slit-throat' signals, with the Police looking directly at him from a few feet away, and they didn't say a word to him. How he was allowed to stay in the ground was an absolute mystery to me, he was a complete and utter embarrassment.

Joe Jordan got ironed out on the dual carriage way that runs away from Goodison after the game.

He was barking like a little dog after the game and by the look of him payed quite a heavy price

Not saying it's right but if you play with fire sometimes you get burnt.

I'd also say that, of the clubs which can usually be relied on to sell their allocation at Villa Park, Everton are the ones who are consistently the least vocal and excitable. They usually sit down, too.

I've never had a problem with Everton as a club, they're very similar to us in some ways, but their fans are a strange mix of preachy, holier than thou types, and absolute fucking scutters who make Liverpool's selection of jester hat toting Scandinavians appealing by comparison.

That "Peoples' Club" thing is cringemaking, too.

B36, section 5 public order act .......
The offence is created by section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986:

A person is guilty of an offence if he/she:
(a) uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, or
(b) displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting,
within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby."
This offence has the following statutory defences:

(a) The defendant had no reason to believe that there was any person within hearing or sight who was likely to be alarmed or distressed by his action. (doubt this one would fit the circumstances)
(b) The defendant was in a dwelling and had no reason to believe that his behaviour would be seen or heard by any person outside any dwelling. (N/A)
(c) The conduct was reasonable. (If it was just shouting/swearing at the game along with many others then he may have an arguement however if there were slit the throat gestures or similar then he's buggered)

This may help a bit. Only the people that were stood around your mate will know if he did any of the above.
Feel free to pm if you want any advice.

Yes it is. Well, Manchester, Coventry, Leicester, London, Stoke, Newcastle, Sunderland and Nottingham are all infested with twats. And Leeds and Bradford and Derby.

Grimsby are generally a sound and knowledgable bunch though, they remind me of the Villa.

Title: Re: The row between Everton and Villa fans today...
Post by: The Villa Werewolf on April 05, 2011, 10:12:29 AM
I've just posted the following comment. I don't suppose they will approve it:

"What an utterly bizarre match report. Your description certainly doesn't fit with the Aston Villa I know, nor with the reputation we have across the country as being a perfectly decent set of fans. Of course, we have our fair share of idiots, as does any club. In fact, a handful of Everton fans have been responsible for some of the worst, racist behaviour I've ever seen in 20 years of watching my club, but I put it down to just that - idiot individuals rather than a damning indictment of Everton Football Club.

As for this assertion:

"The aggregate impression is of a football club you wouldn't want near your dog, never mind your community."

Words fail me. They really do.

We remain the only club in the Premier League to have ever forfeited a shirt sponsorship in order to promote a children's charity, the club demonstrates a healthy respect for its tradition and heritage, and contributes to a whole host of investment and social inclusion projects in the local community.

Indeed, one of our 'shaven headed thugs', Gabriel Agbonlahor, recently made a personal donation (i.e. from his own pocket), which is believed to amount to almost a million pounds. The bastard!

All in all, this article is imbalanced, bitter, and wholly lacking in any credit whatsoever. I would expect far more from a website like Bluekipper. Incidentally, our 'crackpot' fans offered warm applause for the on-pitch presentation relating to your charitable efforts on Saturday, funny how you have neglected to mention that.

Despicable. For shame."

I love this comment:

Quote
I sit in line with the edge of the Park End penalty area so had a great view of the Beckford 'goal'. Definitely over the line, but then we all know that now anyway.. As I think Moyes pointed out, the angle it came down off the bar suggested it'd gone in. That 'Blah blah blah m'lord' dross the Villa fans churn out goes right through me. And on the subject of their chants, a set of away fans with only one - bland - chant about their own team is very poor fare.

That's an EVERTON fan criticising our song repertoire.

My hunch is that one of the reasons they don't like us is to do with history.  They make a great play of their club's history - especially when they get into debates with Liverpool fans.  They like being seen as an old club and founder members of The League - and rightfully so.  However, I genuinely feel that, deep down, they know that  there is one club that their history just does not stack up against - and that would be ours. Creators of the League, the European Cup etc. There's a fair bit of envy and bitterness behind it all.

There's something about clubs who wear blue and white and live in the shadow of much bigger, and much more famous neighbours. Their fans have an inbred bitterness, jealousy and nastiness about them.
Red Scousers must laugh their socks off every time they pass the "People's Club" signs around Goodison - it's a bit like Man city fans claiming all Mancs are City fans and Small Heath trying to tell everyone they represent Brum because they changed their name.
All have the same small-time mentality whereby they have to invent things that cannot be backed up with facts.
At least our neighbours do now have a trophy to brag about so they can forget the made-up shite.

And presumptious thinking that all they had to do to win in in 1986 was enter the competetion.  I seem to remember winning it was actually quite difficult.

Or maybe their particular dislike of us is more to do with the fact that we're clubs of similar size, crowds, history etc, yet we're kings of an entire region of the country and they're only second best in their own area of town. It all goes back to bitterness and jealousy again.

Don't worry about the media.  Spurs, Chelsea and Manure are widely hated but the press are permanently stuck up their arses.  In fact a bit of hatred gets you more attention media wise.

traditionally Everton were the big club before Shankly turned up so i can see why they'd find liverpool annoying - more so than they actually seem to. As for us, it seems a bit pointless as any animosity has to be a two way thing to work, and i doubt many Villa fans can muster more than a "meh" where Everton are concerned

I think that of the larger clubs, they are the most inward-looking. If you spend your life in a city you love, but everyone outside Liverpool identifies it with a club you loathe, you will start to resent the outside world.

They won't groundshare; they won't move to Kirkby; they're unable to move forward because they see it as an admission of failure.

So they're stuck in their little bunker, feeling angry at everyone because they're not the biggest team in Liverpool.

It is funny because as a relatively young football fan, the only bad memories I have of going away (apart from Blues) is at Everton. I was walking around Goodison Park with my brother on my first visit there. I was about 14 and he was about 12, we aren't yobs in fact I like to think I am quite a nice lad! We were just checking out every stand as is customery on your first visit to any ground when some dirty scoue git of about 40 spat on me. I kept my head down and moved on but from that day onwards I have always hated Everton.

Everton fans criticising another team's songbook, pot meet the kettle.

If you know yer history and two slightly different variations of the word Everton, along with squealing everytime an opposition player goes within 5 yards of an Everton player. I've always thought that for their numbers they're the shittest fans in the league, home and away. All sat down in silence.

Despicable. For shame."

its on there now

I always see them as a decent club - poor, living in Liverpool's shadow - but decent.

In Kenwright (sp) they have a Chairman who does right by the club, but, when it's all fed into a computer for analysing,  they are a bit of a nothing football club in all honesty, even if you do 'know yer history'.

Ignore and move on I say.

It's nice to be liked.

But in competitive sport it's even nicer to be hated.

Not many supporters of other clubs could look down their noses at us, certainly not the tramps who make up a good proportion of the Everton support base. A post apocalyptic future, complete with toxic overspill and genetic mutations will probably resemble current day Goodison Park and the surrounding environs on matchday.

Fair play to the SHA fans (if it really is them) on that site, they've called it pretty much dead on. Odd really, as I alway thought that lot and Everton fans had plenty in common.

Brian walked on water.

I can only guess that the poster's Dad who hates us from 77 wasn't at the games. Apart from applauding their players on their lap of honour, the Villa fans also chanted 'Everton', as they walked past us. There was great mutual respect betwwen the two teams and set of fans.

I'd imagine today deep down there's an understandable level of jealously towards us and having Randy Lerner as owner. They know they'll probably never be able to compete again as they did in the mid-80's. They're a great club with some knowledgeable fans, it's a shame that article makes them look like a bunch of twats.

Really do hope we firstly or anyone else gets moyes because Everton will spiral downwards rather swiftly. Those who have been to Goodison will know it trully is  an awful place to watch football as the stadium itself is delapodated and there fans are so very uninspiring. There is no infrastructure to speak of and that is the very reason noone is willing to buy them.Thats why we owe thanks to deadly Doug (for all his problems discussed at length elsewhere) for Villa Park which made Aston Villa a viable project for Randy Lerner to buy among other reasons and for the investment around the ground and infrastructure.Players and managers come and go and if Moyes left and took the better players what would be left at everton?

Because I had nothing better to do, I went with a then-Everton-supporting mate (now Villa) to watch an FA cup match against the Albion at the Hawthorns in the late 80s. We stood with the Everton fans, who I can safely say were the whiniest bunch of squawking, moaning, racist football 'fans' I've ever had the displeasure to be among. They didn't cheer once, they just moaned, consistently, in an unsettling high-pitched whinge that was only interrupted by monkey chants made against Albion's black players. Dicks.

In the realms of balance, I have had the pleasure of drinking with an Evertonian colleague of mine, along with his family and friends on a many an away trip to Goodison.

Have drank in their pubs with my lad with his Villa Shirt on, and found them to be great company and knowledgeable about their Club and football in general. I have even sat in their end with them too, and celebrated Bozzie saving a penalty. The only thing that really sticks out id their hatred of "them lot" across Stanley Park.

I think a lot of this hatred is to do with the fact that we tend not to lose to them very often, at least in the last 25 years.

If we had a similar record against them as that which we have against Liverpool, for instance, they wouldn't give a toss about us.

Perhaps, although I can't recall it. I'm pretty sure the game was a draw. I do clearly remember the Everton fans whinging, almost non-stop, about Ian Snodin: "Ay, arr, Snowy lad." Even when he was nowhere near the ball. Totally different vibe to being away with Villa fans, who usually appear to bring some humour with them. The legendary Scouse humour, on that day at least, appears to have got lost somewhere on the M6. I think we played Crewe away that day.
