Whisper it quietly but it's now 6 goals this season for Emile Heskey. Sure he's capable of going the rest of the season and not hitting a barn door. But I think he may just comfortably exceed double figures (fitness permitted).
Goals aside though his form has really surprised me. Whenever he plays and goes off injured we look far worse off. When he doesn't play, we look worse off. When he's playing, he seems key to how Houllier wants us to play. I thought today he was brilliant again. His touch was good, he won most of his aerial battles, he was strong, quick, and rarely wasted a pass.
Long may it continue because Emile got so much flak last season, from myself included. He's always been a trier and worked hard and I do look to see a trier succeed. To be honest, and to my own surprise, he's probably my favourite Villa player at the moment. He's playing with a smile on his face, and he's also showing a bit of bite and aggression on occasion. I like seeing the big bear getting angry sometimes. All too often he's been more Gentle Ben than wild grizzly.
Keep it up Emile!
I reckons he'll get 13 goals this season in all competitions.

He's been great to be fair. Just wish his goals were welcome additions to those we normally get from Carew and Gabby.
-
He was excellent today.

He was excellent today.
To be fair he has been all season when he's played.
-
Quality, he is a hand full, his problem is staying fit.

Generally when Heskey's fit and playing for Houllier, his style and system looks like working. It's when Heskey isn't playing that it looks like it won't get us anywhere. Trouble is, Heskey's only played 9 out of our 20 games this season.
Niggles aside though, he looks a lot fitter than last season too. He's shed timber and he's got some pace back too. He'd lost it last season which never helped his cause.
-
I think he's been our best player this season. If only he could keep fit.

Heskey has played really well for us all season when he has been fit i would say he will get between 12 or 14 goals this season all comp.
-
so If thats 6 goals in 9 games , that is a brilliant ratio. We look poor when he isnt playing.
-
Most improved player by far. He's been fantastic.
-
20. (7 in the F.A. Cup)
-
As with all the Villa players, consistent and injury free and he should get 10-15 goals in all competitions, ok maybe just 10 but after today I can get a little carried away.
-
10 goals I reckon.
-
I'll go 14

7-8.

7-8.
That's a bit harsh! Unless of course you think he is going to struggle with injury for the rest of the season; he's scored 6 in 13 so far hasn't he?
Should comfortably score 10-11 for me and fair play to him he has improved beyond recognition since Houllier took over
Up The Villa

He's made a big difference for us this season and was never as bad as some were making out last season. Shame he's been a bit fragile on the injury front.
-
I'm quite sure, in something akin to a Van Damme training sequence in Kickboxer, Emile spent all summer long in the wilderness, with only an Eagle and a wizened master for company, hitting barn doors with banjos!
-
His more direct style is excellent. He'll get 10 in all comps.
-
His header against Wolves was brilliant, I reckon he can get 10-15 if he doesn't get injured.
-
I always thought that he didn't fit in with the way Villa played under the previous manager and that when he played we looked less of a side.
Heskey is looking better this season as generally the balls up to him are looking better quality and giving him less to do in winning the ball. Consequently he is giving less fouls away and looks a better player for it. What we need now is the other forwards and midfield players to read his play better to make use of the balls he wins.
Still think he is not dangerous enough to lead the line and be the goalscorer we need.
-
Keeping free of injury will be a big issue for him, but he could get up to 15.
-
Regardless of how many goals he'll score this season, I thought yesterday was his best display in a Villa shirt, he won everything and always looked a threat. He's had a horrid time at Villa Park and never been accepted by the fans until now but you can see he finally feels part of the club, even if he's yet to celebrate a goal with the fans. It will happen. He managed to smile for the first time when he scored against WBA and yesterday's celebration appeared to be a demonstration of his strength. He's happy and it shows.
-
He came over to us to celebrate after his goal yesterday, rather than turning away, which he usually does. And at the end, when he was about to walk straight off, GH sent him back down to our end, where he got the applause he deserved.
-
Heskey always seems slightly embarrassed by his own success. He always seems a little surprised when he's scored too. I'd love him to go mad with celebration just once. What is evident, is how much the rest of the team seem to love the big man.
