You won't be able to watch SSN from later in the year.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/10346894.stm - link from BBC.
Not sure how I feel about this to be fair. It was useful for keeping up to date with games, but there was always the "have I really been watching this shite for three hours" factor.
-
I agree, I do find myself watching that channel far too often, especially when Millie Clode is presenting...
-
I wont miss the bullshit they make up at the end of the transfer window.
"Oooooh I've just had a text from a friend at Eastlands who said they've just seen Messi having a shit in Gary Cooks office, wank wank wank spurt!".
-
This has been mooted for some time.
Fuck 'em if they want to lose viewers.
Silly twat Murdoch thinks he can charge for news items on the internet too.
-
Seems a daft idea by Sky. Sky Sports News is always 50% news 50% advertising forthcoming events on Sky Sports they will lose that opportunity to promote Sky sales by this move.
-
I'll miss it if it goes!
-
arse. goodbye Jeff
-
Don't worry. We can fill the void with Sky 3+1.
Terrific.
-
Bugger! I paid £240 for a digital aerial last week mainly to get SSN on Freeview.
-
Fork out for proper Sky you bunch of cheapskate moaners

I did as well, with the idea of getting rid of Sky, might have to keep them now, can't do without Soccer Saturday.
-
Did anybody seriously think SSN was going to last on freeview?! It's Sky!
-
Im still pissed off I get charged for HD.. why should I pay for a service just to get a decent picture..
-
Fork out for proper Sky you bunch of cheapskate moaners
Some people have trouble getting Sky location wise. I live in a listed building so can't put a dish up and have no cable by me!

Yes, for the same reason that cdvillafan mentioned above.
Personally, I refuse point blank to pay for subscription TV - especially to Sky. In the same way that I no longer use Gillette or Sure products because of their sponsorship of Sky Sports programmes.
That said, I suppose it could be argued that the TV licence effectively makes BBC a subscription service.

We used to live in a conservation area and dishes weren't allowed but I still put one up.
Any tree-shagging do-gooding Swampy who wants to try to come between me and my Sky better come tooled up and ready to fight......
-
Do I care about SSN? No!
-
You'll still be able to watch Soccer Saturday via a stream online.
-
My life is flashing before my eyes. I have proper sky at home but freeview at uni. Our uni days usually involved four lads pissing about on laptops playing football manager and watching sky sports news all day. Now what am I going to do?

probably not get a job
-
arse. goodbye Jeff
Shit. I was just about to say that I'll miss it as its the only Sports I have, but wouldn't mind that much. And now you've reminded me of its huge plus.
-
We're all going to have to learn to love the Final Score service via bbc red button.
-

Discover women?

And risk ending up marrying one? I don't know what he's done to you Chris, but that's bang out of order.
-
hmm. This is going to be annoying, soccer saturday has become a bit of a staple diet. Let's hope the beeb replace garth vader soon.
-
Do I care about SSN? No!
Did you get 3000+ posts by going to all threads you don't care about and writing a varied version of this?
-
Im still pissed off I get charged for HD.. why should I pay for a service just to get a decent picture..
Completely agree, and they've deliberately made the standard package broadcast at a lower quality to try and get more HD subscriptions. Disgusting. The only thing they should be charging for is the HD box and cable.

Sorry, you're right. Don't know what I was thinking.

I also need to have a BT line fitted which costs £147 then I need to get SKY and I just can't afford it. Im gutted like Paul said I wont miss the transfer window but I will miss Millie clode and Geoff on a saturday
-
That's awful news, where else can I get breaking news about Gillingham signing a new left back or pictures of Fabio Cappello stood with his arms crossed looking grumpy?
-
I won't miss it - I only ever watch it on transfer deadline day, so I only associate it with disappointment and wasted time.
-

youre bang on, Have you noticed how bad the ITV champions league picture as got worse the last 12 mths..
They make it less sharp gradually over time , bombard you with adverts in between about HD and how the picture looks fantastic (funny how it looks fantastic in the adverts on the same channel). Then eventually the public give in and get HD . The ITV picture was never that bad in the 70's.
-
don't watch it, would never pay for sky anyway. adverts every 2 minutes, loads of repeats, full of shit american telly. meh.
-
After watching England on friday, I almost wish there were more adverts. Good poing Greg as its only the USA that make shit telly. At least you get a choice not to pay for Murdochs empire. If you want to watch any telly, you have to pay the beeb.
-
After today's game, I'm not remotely bothered at the moment that today is the last day of SSN on Freeview.
-
Fork out for proper Sky you bunch of cheapskate moaners
Exactly my thoughts!
-
oh dear its that idiot Garth Crooks, instead of Jeff Stelling on a saturday afternoon.
-

No. Sky can do one as far as I'm concerned and so can SSN.

Finally, an excuse to post this:

Live on Channel 455 at 06.00 tomorrow
-
When the revolution comes, Rupert Murdoch will be the first up against the wall.
-
Well this is the commercial age
Surely someone can get it together to get some comeley wenches to read sports news(pref in tasteful lingerie)on freeview
they put the freeform sexual actresses on the freeview from midnight for free(apparently,I have always said my prayers and retired to beddy byes by this time)
come on boys someone get their fit missus dolled up and reading excerpts from the Internet!
Show some spunk (although that may be banned)
-
Surely this is an ideal opportunity for the Beeb or ITV to do something similar on a Saturday afternoon on say BBC 3 or ITV 4?

about 3 minutes late!

ITV used to do something like it until, presumably, they realised that the viewing figures showed that they were making as big an arse of it as they do of all their football coverage.

I'm sure the BBC do something very simular on the red button
