Based on the presumption that MONs available transfer budget may depend on where we finish this season, what level we'll be competing in Europe next season, and getting rid of some of the current squad...which players do you think we should be realistically targeting to bring to Villa Park in the summer?
There will be a lot of players putting themselves in the shop window during the World Cup, so which players have caught your eye and could improve the current Villa squad?
I'll start the ball rolling with a few that have already been mentioned on here:
GK: Joe Hart
MID: Jamie O'Hara
FWD: Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
FWD: Nicklas Bendtner |

Jamie O'Hara's a good shout - would be a direct replacement for NRC and a medium-term replacement for Petrov.
Bendtner is too damn inconsistent and seems to have an attitude problem. Huntelaar could go either way in the Premier League.
In goal, I'd be tempted to hold tight with Friedel and Guzan for one more season and make changes next year if needs be.
Is Van der Vaart still a realistic possibility? I'd like him. |

id get rid of beye and sign nathaniel clyne as back up to luke young, wouldn't mind park from man utd as back up to ash and downing, altho i doubt they'd let him go as i reckon he's worth a fair bit to them in the asian market, we obviously need a creative midfielder such as van der vaart and a striker like darren bent wouldn't go a miss, piece of piss this management lark ;) |

I still hold the opinion that Mikel Arteta & Darren Bent are the creative midfielder & 15-goals-a-season striker we're looking for.
As for luke25's suggestion of Park Ji Sung, he's one of Red Nose's trustable player hence doubt he will sell. If he intends to sell &/or the Korean wants a new challenge, I guess there would be a line of clubs willing to sign him. |

Park is brilliant for United as he works like a dog wherever he is played, and as such Fergie would never let him go. I don't think he would be that good elsewhere either.
Striker - we should have bought Bent a year ago, and should still buy Bent.
Liked the look of a couple of the Lille players last night. Creative midfield and defensive midfield need buying to challenge Milner and Petrov, while I think a really fast winger that gets to the dead ball line would be useful. |

Arteta would be great. Getting on a bit, mind. Won't happen, but it's a good shout. |

Arteta would be great but he'll leave Evrrton for a bigger stage than us.
This summer we need:
A Petrov replacement
A creative central mid
At least one proven goalscorer
it won't be easy and I don't know who they are, but we need them and ideally the should be significant improvements on what we have now rather than more of the same. |

Joe Cole is nailed on to go to United isn't he? And in fairness their midfield needs a couple of top players to improve them sufficiently, so doubt Cole will be possible.
I would like us to go and get Ireland - think that is a very decent shout. I would have a nibble at Pavlychenko too, and maybe take O'Hara, always looks a good player. |

You say realistic, but your list is mainly fantasy football, Huntelaar and Bedtner would not give up Champions League football to come to us, you also forget that Huntelaar plays in a foreign League and is therfore out of bounds to MON.
Hart will probably go back to Man City and O'Hara? - No thanks.
I've been amazed at some of the names mentioned on here, you'd better start aiming your sights a little lower as you're in dreamland if you think we'll be signing the likes of Joe Cole.
The transfer budget will not be that high. |

We should be in the Market for the likes of joe cole though ,whether we could get him I doubt but that is the sort of quality we should be trying for.
Maybe we need to trim out a few squad players and boost the transfer funds as we have have some good young players coming through to add to our squad.
Definately a creative midfielder and top notch striker are the priority-we no longer need lots of players in. ,just 2 top class ones! |

Eden Hazzard and Carlton Cole.
Both gettable, and both would improve the two areas that need strengthening. |
